Kariss was silent for a while, just staring at J'skull, then looking to his dragon, then back to him. He...didn't know what she was talking about? Odd. "The...the man with the knife? Who stormed in here and nearly murdered your dragon before he and Nalsulath drove him off...? You don't know anything about that?" Not that she was faulting him; it was obvious that his dragon simply hadn't filled him in. She wasn't irritated at him, just baffled. Sort of seemed like something important to mention.
It's hardly surprising, Kariss, when you think of it. I merely "filled you in" because the alternative was to be lectured about eating something small and fluffy when you should be feeding me. There is plenty of time to question my brother and His later. For now, you are severely slacking on your job.
Kariss rolled her eyes, offering more meat to the garnet, who took it delicately, far less dangerous than her matching brother. "We should talk to the weyrwoman after this." She said this to J'skull. If he didn't want to go with her, she was fine just going to Noraali - or perhaps Rikulah? it was her gold, after all - on her own; someone had to make the events known.
Nalsulat, now, was somewhat irritated. Foolish dragons were rampaging around - and sure to be forgiven, because they weren't the oh so dangerous garnets (a color which, she would like to point out, had done essentially no damage during this hatching). And, equally irksome, her rider was too busy talking to someone to feed her. She nipped Kariss' arm, hard. Feed me or I'll have to find my own food. She gave Kariss' bloody arm - now in even more pain from this second bite - a significant look, and was rewarded with a hastily proffered bit of meat. That was better.

Imiika was never on time. Nope. Never. And she wasn't going to break that tradition, her mind having gotten away from her again. She so much as ignored the beginnings of the hatching as she continued her study... Only to realize that it truly was getting late into the hatching. What was that saying again? Better to ask forgiveness that permission or some such thing? Whatever the case, she supposed she would have to beg the gold's forgiveness fro her tardiness. And, as she was coming to expect, there woudl be much to take in. She did feel mildly annoyed at missing teh parading about of some of the dragons. But she had no itnerest in a dragon for herself nor for the egos of some dragonets that she had heard of in the past. the only thing she woudl be interested to see would be what seemed to make them tick. The inner workings.
Little did she know that she had missed the hatching of a Garnet queen... And that was something she definitely would have wanted to see. The brunette pulled the white Candidate's robe on, pulled her hair through, and started off, heading to the Hatching Sands as if there was no hurry. Her dragon, if there was one for her, would be waiting regardless. It was as it was.
When she did finally reach the sands, she stopped to take in the scene. She supposed she should look like she was in some sort of hurry or something... But she didn't really feel like it. Really didn't. She surveyed the sands calmly then bowed where she was to the Queen. "My apologies, Majoriith. I let time get away from me, I'm afraid. I hope that your children will forgive me as well."
She strode forward after a long bow to take her place at the back of the crowd of female candidates, eying those with injuries - some that looked like the might be severe. She surveyedthe sands and those at the Feeding Station. Hmm... Two red dragons... Though one looked quite feminine and the whispers did tell her it was a female garnet - thougth a topaz at first. It seemed to have caused quite a bit of a stir. There was another garnet - a male, and a brown... She was distracted then by those draognets on teh sands and the eggs still rocking. The white and her little egg had not budged, though the egg did shake slightly every now and again and the small mother watched it intently.

Someone was late, how distasteful. Snorting, The Queen eyes as a few more candidates frolicked their way onto the sands and hissed a warning at them. Nope, stay in the back, that's where you belong. Majoriith only looked at her daughter oddly, wondering why any dragonet would be upset with more possible riders. Still, if the yellow-green hatchling didn't want late candidates near her, that was her business.
The blue Boy-King dragonet could only agree with his sibling however, doing more than just hissing as he neared a late comer. No, instead he snapped in the young woman's direction, eyes blazing red before The Queen yanked him back by his tail making him yelp in pain. Hey! Giving the blue a leveled gaze, The Queen prodded him toward the male candidates, growling at him when he planted his feet in the ground firmly.
He was not going to be paraded around like some female. If anything he should be showing her off. At that thought though The Queen just glared at the blue and whistled low before snapping her head up. Something was about to happen....eyes flowing over to The Wolf as it rocked, The Queen growled low in her throat. No, not now, not before her king could find his rider. In a sudden shower of egg shells the dragonet burst out of its shell, wings flaring as it shook its head and reveled in the new found freedom.
Finally! Finally it could stretch its wings, finally it could just relax a bit more. Eying The Queen and Boy-Kings' red gazes however, the bronze Wolf quickly rethought that whole idea. Nope, apparently this was only the beginning. Sighing and giving a small shake of his head, the pale creature stepped forward uneasily, looking over his shoulder only as two other eggs began to rock more fervently. The Lady was the one to actually hatch though, and the dragonet inside squealed in surprise as she came tumbling out.
Oh...ow. Keening softly from the impact as she landed right into The Wolf, the little amethyst nuzzled her larger brother, crooning happily as she quickly forgot the pain. Oh, her brother was so very nice for helping to break her fall. Snorting gently, The Wolf drew The Lady closer to his side, eyes still on the other two hatchlings as they stared back. By this time the amethyst had caught sight of the Boy-King, and as the blue felt the female's eyes on him, he gave a gallant (if not comical) bow to her.
His subject could see that he was the real King could she not? Tilting her little head, the amethyst Lady crooned softly as The Queen nodded beside the blue, beckoning her closer. Yes little bird, come now. Come and join her king. They could be playmates and friends and surely he would love her like no other would. It was a sing-song sort of quartet; The Queen and The Lady speaking in higher voices while The Boy-King played a harmony to them and The Wolf a steady, but disappointed base.
He was not keen on his little amethyst sibling going over there. They were all family perhaps, all friends in name, but there was something else going on with that pair. Sweeping a protective tail around The Lady, The Wolf shook his head once and snorted. No. Naturally, it had been about a good five minutes since the Boy-King had last had a tantrum, so why not give one now, right? Shrieking at the bronze, the blue raced over, the larger male meeting him half way before both females could keen for them to stop.
It was over in a few minutes, the tangled hatchlings becoming separated as both The Lady and The Queen warbled unhappily while pulling them apart. Just as quickly The Queen was hissing at the bronze though, pushing The Boy-King blue away from the other two hatchlings and closer to the candidates. Go, go now, you needed to choose before he did. Gain your claim to the Weyr and take whoever you thought he would choose. Choose the candidate that was most likely to become a rider of a king, send this false one to between.
Running toward the male candidates, The Boy-King quickly pounced on the one he knew was His, the one that was the rider of a king. The force of the impact knocked them both to the hot sands, the blue perching on the boy's chest as he smirked a draconic grin from above.
Your King has arrived Koroniket!
When from behind The Wolf only snorted and shook his head at the actions of the blue, honestly he didn't even want that one, the blue shrieked again...of course, now there actually was a human that could hear him, and the blue quickly melded his mind with the boy's and turned rainbow eyes that were heavily laced with red and yellow.
Kill them! Kill them all! They do not bow down to your Vorith! All of them, they will pay and they will learn.
JOFFRERY BLUE-KORONIKET "Taylor" Name: Vorith Based on: Joffrey Lannister Color: Blue Hex Codes: 1e3278, 8690b7, 3a93bd, 536e9d, 35318cSize: 26 feet Personality: Vorith is a child, a brat, and entirely dangerous. His tantrums end up causing trouble, and if it were not for his blue hide (though it is somewhat purple as well, which he hates) many would think he was a Garnet instead. His ability to stay calm though is about slim to none, and even the smallest of things will set him off into a tirade of angry words and whining. Oh, and does he ever whine. He’ll whine about things not being fair, about not getting enough attention, about someone else having a chance before he does. It all stems from him trying to prove that he is stronger than he seems, and that he is the true King of Pern. He is touchy about his hide color, simply because he feels as if he should have been born a King. No, scratch that, he was born a King. His mother was just stupid enough to birth him with the wrong hide. He is special because of that though, obviously, and anyone who says differently will be harmed until they state otherwise! He can be quite mean-spirited as well, with a “likes to pull the wings off of flies” mentality. However, when it comes to actual confrontation, he will hide behind his Mother’s skirts, or anyone else that is stronger or larger than he is for that matter.

Laila wasn't paying much attention to the blue and green hatchlings on the sands; she was watching the eggs, two of which seemed to be ready to hatch. She grinned as she saw a stately-looking bronze hatch from one of the larger eggs--the Wolf, actually, and again when she saw him go to help one of his other siblings hatch. Laila recognized the Lady egg, it being one of the eggs she had touched, and was glad to see an amethyst emerge from the shell.
Her gaze followed the amethyst and bronze as they interacted with the other hatchlings. Well, at least the Boy-King blue seemed to like someone, perhaps he would calm down--oh well, no, there he went again, launching himself at the bronze before the females could stop them. At least the bronze could hold his own, and fortunately the fight was over fairly quickly with few injuries, by the looks of it. Laila admired the bronze's protectiveness when it came to his siblings; she hoped he found a good rider.
And now, finally, the blue was choosing his rider--Laila was a little surprised and amused to see it was Koroniket, after he'd been so vocal about Impressing a bronze during the lesson. Then again, she didn't remember seeing much of him at the Touching. Perhaps he'd found his dragon early on, then? That might explain it. She clapped politely for the new pair, before turning her hopeful gaze back to the unbonded hatchlings. The bronze was a non-possibility, and she didn't care much for the green's cavalier violence, but the Lady's egg had seemed quite nice when she had Touched it before. Perhaps the dragon would like her now as well.

Even though she hadn’t forgotten the pain in her leg, Motoki did her best to ignore it. She wasn’t angry with the blue for what he had done to her leg, for all she knew the young male might have felt angry because he couldn’t find his rider. Yes, that was what she was going to cling to within her mind. The piece of robe she had torn off and wrapped around the slashes in her leg was now starting to turn a deeper pink, and she knew that the blood would soon be leaking out from the makeshift wrap and down her leg, but she hoped that she would impress a dragon well before that happened.
Motoki’s attention was dragged back to the hatching sands when two more eggs hatched, and it seemed that the blue was putting on a show for the two females, though the bronze didn’t look very amused. Mo wondered who would impress next, and to which hatchling. Low and behold the blue and bronze got into a fight, and Mo wondered if it had been over the females. To her it seemed she was right, but then again, she didn’t know what the other candidates could see, so maybe something had happened that she didn’t notice. Oh well, no need worrying about that, the blue had turned his attention on the candidates again.
Motoki couldn’t say she felt all that happy for the poor young man that impressed the childish blue, but she hoped that Koroniket could make the blue behave, but she wasn’t keeping her hopes up. Instead she turned back to the three remaining hatchlings, wondering if one of them would be for her. Though, to tell the truth, she would prefer the amethyst or even the bronze over the yellowish-green hatchling. She knew that was terrible of her, but she couldn’t help it. To her that little yellow-green hatchling just seemed too…uppity. Mo shook her head and sighed, knowing full well that it was the dragon that chose the human, not the other way around.

Malta felt better about her own tardiness; there were still Candidates trickling onto the Sands. She had no feelings one way or the other about it -life still happened, even if dragons were Hatching- but the yellow-green hatchling voiced her displeasure very clearly. Malta lifted a brow. That made no logical sense; what if the girl who'd just walked in was Hers? The Blue was even more forceful, stalking towards the Candidate Malta recognized as the mindhealer and snapping in her direction, before his sister put a stop to that.
Her attention moved immediately to the Wolf as it showed signs of Hatching, breaking to reveal a handsome Bronze. She expected no less of the calm, protective Egg, and was highly interested in who he would Choose. Perhaps Gaius? Her eyes wandered to him; she genuinely liked the young man, and he was steady, intelligent, helpful. Bronze material, in her opinion, but that was ultimately up to the dragons themselves.
An Egg she hadn't Touched broke open, spilling out a rather adorable Amethyst, who tumbled into her Bronze brother, nuzzling him quickly. She was quite a change from the generally violent temperaments of most of her siblings; Malta was a little relieved, more for the Bronze's sake than anything else. She had no objection to violence, and believed it could be used to serve an end, if it were used correctly, but she hadn't wanted to see the Bronze savaged for merely being in the wrong place.
The Blue was posturing for the little female, and, wonder of wonders, the yellow-green hatchling seemed to approve. The Bronze objected quietly, and wisely, in Malta's opinion, but naturally the Blue would stand for no one disagreeing with him, and sprang at the larger hatchling. The scuffle was quickly over, with no real wounds to speak of on either side, or none that Malta could see, and the yellow-green herded her Blue off. In seconds, the Blue had pounced on a young man, one she remembered as insisting he would Impress Bronze. Her mouth quirked up into a smile; you got what you deserved, it seemed.
What do you deserve? her mind whispered, and she shoved the thought away. She had no reason to expect to Impress, but neither would she entertain doubts that might drive away a dragon headed in her direction. The Hatching was far from over. There was no point in worrying now. She sought the peace she'd felt before, and managed to find a version of it to comfort herself with, even if it was wearing rather thin. [/size]

Koroniket had just opened his mouth to yell for a sharding healer to do their sharding job and tend to him. He stopped, though, when the wolf hatched. A calm settled over him, a contentment far more intense than he'd have expected. There was his bronze. Soon they would be together and all would be well, whether he got a damn healer or not.
He even smiled, despite the searing pain in his thigh. Soon everything would be okay again. And then it all went to shit.
Because that sharding blue had decided that he was going to ruin Koroniket's life some more. It wasn't enough to trick him at the touching and then slash him down during the hatching. Oh no. He had to jump onto the poor candidate's chest, as well and...oh no. Oh no. Was that...? That couldn't possibly be the blue's voice? In his head?
Koroniket shook his head, shoving at the blue's chest. "Get off me, you ass." When the blue just remained there, his angry rainbow eyes staring, Koroniket drew back his fist and punched him as hard as he could. Which hurt. A lot. And not just in his hand; he felt like he'd just punched himself in the chest.
Vorith snarled but got off. What are you doing?! You are meant to be striking down the ignorant!
Yeah well in case you didn't notice- Koroniket found himself speaking back to the dragon's mind before realizing what he'd done. No. He wasn't going to enable this insanity. "In case you didn't notice, you already struck me down. Now go away and find someone else. My bronze is waiting for me."
I am your bronze and you will get up and feed me and then you will punish those fools. And you will do it now! He let out another ear-shattering shriek and Koroniket winced. Come on, Ko'o. He emphasized the honorific, emphasizing his claim and ownership of this rider.
"I need a healer and my bronze and you can just shard off." Koroniket - no he was not going to accept that blue's name for him, thank you very much - stared the blue down, glaring at him.
For several long seconds, it was unclear who was going to win this argument. Two spoiled children wanting different things didn't tend to go well. Finally, though, Vorith backed down. Kind of. He turned and stomped his way across the sands.
Vorith went straight to Malta, grabbing the back of her robes and giving them a hard yank, wanting her attention and honestly not caring if he sent her tumbling to the ground. In fact, that might be nice. He should make sure that happened. He released her robes and instead headbutted her in the small of the back. You. You feel like a healer. Fix mine. Now. He snarled to follow up his words; she better not disobey.

Nymira was obviously in her own world, why else would she be late for the Hatching? She slept in could have been a good reason, but she had been up for a while before dawn. The excitement was what kept her up. She was imagining just what colors would Impress, and if she may Impress to any at all. So that wasn't the reason for her lateness. Her daydreams were.
She quickly got on the robes she was to wear at the Hatching and started for the Sands. Nymira was too late to see the bloody figure leaving the Sands, but she did see the dragons that had hatched already. This was definitely an exciting Hatching already, and from what she could see, it would only get more exciting from here. She silently slipped to where the other girls were standing. There was no use in causing a scene here. Besides, she liked the spot she got. It was a good one to observe from.
Her spot was easily seen by the dragonets, so that in case one did want her, they would easily spot her. But Nymira was just hidden enough so that she wasn't in the direct path of any Hatchling from one Candidate to another. It was the absolute perfect spot for her. She was starting to wonder what would happen next. Though she couldn't even begin to guess as she hadn't been there for the beginning of the Hatching.

“Well would you look at that…” Gaius muttered to no one in particular. More eggs were hatching, and finally one of them Gaius had the chance of touching. The white shell, the wolf, shattered and out spilled the hatchling. The blueyed candidate found himself smiling as he watched the bronze wolf walk around the sands. He seemed more interested in helping his fellow siblings, keeping the peace, than squabbling and fighting like the boy-prince and queen egg hatchlings. Never had he seen such infighting amongst a new clutch. True this was only the second clutch he stood for, but surely this couldn’t be normal?
With a curious look he watched the bronze safeguard his newly hatched amethyst sister, as the other two squabbled and snarled. So it was with great relief when the boy-prince blue was finally given a last nudge by the queen egg hatchling towards the male candidates and boy did that blue take off. It was obvious from the start that the hatchling knew who he wanted just by the way he barreled through the boys and ended up tackling the chosen one to the ground. Well it was about time that was settled. Gaius shook his head at the pair before turning back to the three hatchlings still on the sands and the remaining eggs. Maybe now the infighting would come to an end and the rest of the Impressions could take place with too many more incidents or bloodshed.

G'daroMine. The eggs are hatching and Kite is standing. Shall we go watch? Banemith suddenly announced as G'daro was staring out the window. Alright, let's go. he replied and Fizgig responded by jumping onto his shoulder and gripping the leather on G'daro's vest. Then the three made their way to the Hatching Grounds. When they arrived, they took their seats so that they could watch Kite try to Impress. G'daro easily spotted him and silently waved to try to get his attention. ------------------ Kite had been watching the baby dragons hatch and Impress to their riders. He scanned the crowd to try to spot him, then he found him: his cousin G'daro and his dragon. He saw him wave at him and he smiled and waved back. He turned back around and saw that the Wolf Egg turned out to be a handsome bronze. His heart began to race and he felt a slight feeling of hope that he would Impress to that bronze, let alone any dragon in the clutch.

Pandora had known that there was a possibility that there would be a bit of drama during the hatchling, but she had never could have imagined that the hatching would have gone the way it had. It seemed to her that there had been fewer problems than there had been during the hatching where she had first seen garnets in Trelis. Either way there didn’t seem to be much that the Weyrsecond could do about any of it. Hence why her and her brown dragon Guarximuth had decided to stay towards the back of the hatching, where they were less likely to be noticed. Guarximuth was getting a little anxious to go see his mate, and congratulate her face to face though, but for now the brown male would listen to his rider, and stay where he was, for how long he hadn’t decided yet.

Malta had discounted the Blue entirely. She'd seen him pounce on a boy and hadn't heard any screams, and as far as she was concerned, that meant he'd Impressed. Generally, pairs walked off the Sands after that to live happily ever after; there was no reason to continue paying attention to an Impressed dragonet.
So when something seized the back of her robes and pulled her sharply backwards, only luck kept her on her feet. Quite against his wishes, Vorith's headbutt actually helped to steady her, reversing her backwards momentum. That did not make it pleasant, however, and when she whirled to face him, her dark eyes were blazing. His demands only served to fuel her anger, but the dragon's throaty snarl brought her back to herself. He was very capable of hurting her -already had, in fact- and she doubted his new Rider was capable of stopping him.
Then again, Malta could be very not good at dealing with emotion.
"I'll be happy to," she answered, her eyes meeting his steadily, "If you'll apologize." She indicated the line of rusty blood on her robes, product of his careless rush earlier. Her body language was loose, confident; she acted as if it had never occurred to her he might attack. Even her thoughts she kept confident, mindful that she was dealing with a telepathic creature.
"Better hurry," she observed dispassionately, "He's bleeding."
The knowledge that this was probably a very stupid thing to do simmered deep in her mind. It was almost thrilling. One temper tantrum out of this creature who'd only been alive a few minutes, and she could find herself on the receiving end of a rather nasty death. And yet, here she was, staring it right in the face, and there wasn't a flicker of fear in her. Somehow, she was elated, all but tingling as adrenaline set fire to her veins, ready to do whatever she could to keep herself alive. In all her life, she'd never felt this way, and maybe it would be the last thing she ever felt.
Eh. Worth it.

T'lo's frown widened the longer the hatching wore on. He was tucked away in the corner of the stands, but even though nobody was really looking at him, he couldn't help shifting uncomfortably in his seat. It had been months--shards, maybe even turns--since he had been around this many people. The sheer number of bodies around him was making his skin crawl. He tried to focus his attention on the eggs, but that wasn't entirely successful.
About seven eggs had hatched so far, but it seemed like mutations were outnumbering the "normal" dragons in this hatching. (Though the brown was not a new color, his stunted growth was almost as bad, to T'lo's mind.) He was momentarily surprised to see the red-orange female go to a female candidate--he was sure every other topaz hatched at Trelis had Impressed to a man. He shot a questioning look to Kieranth.
That's because she is not a topaz, the blue said hesitantly, already knowing his rider would not be pleased. The young one is a garnet. A female one, though every bit as much a sub-queen as a topaz.
T'lo scowled. Great, another breed of sub-queen to clog the sands with their excess clutches. Would her rider enjoy all the privileges of rank, as well? He didn't bother to applaud any of the Impressions--that would have drawn attention to him. He did eye the bronze that had hatched with a little bit of interest. He seemed to be one of the only normal dragons to hatch, so far.
Kieranth was still watching Moth's small egg. It had not hatched yet, but it didn't seem to be a dud, either. The hatching was still far from over, so hopefully it would not be too long before Kieranth's child emerged.

Ryiah was not having the best of mornings. She had not gotten very much sleep the previous night, and to top it all off, she still had work to do. The Hatching was the least of her worries. Though she was the Weyrlingmaster, so she should probably be there. Hopefully it was still early on and there weren't too many Impressions. She loved to see the Impressions.
Brushing her long hair to where it looked at least presentable, she hoped on Morideth's back and the two were off to the Sands. Ryiah didn't see an open spot at first. Though there were another pair of eyes looking for a place to land as well. Mine, there is a space next to Guarximuth and His. Should I take that spot for us? The Obsidian said, drawing closer to the open spot.
Ryiah nodded. "Might as well. To me, that looks like the best place to land." She told her dragon. Morideth flew over to the spot and landed lightly. Ryiah slipped off of her back and nodded to Pandora. "Hello there Pandora. What have I missed?" She asked, an eye to the Sands. She didn't want to miss anything else at this Hatching, that she didn't.

Mleynn was overwhelmed, he couldn't take it all in at once! He even shut his eyes once or twice, or tried but it was too exciting. It was rather impossible, because really you could miss a lot!
Between the fussy blue impressing, and then an Amethyst and also a Bronze hatching, there was much to be seen. Mleynn stared at the yellow-green too, his mind slowly wondering which of those remaining eggs might hatch next, and also which dragonet would next impress...
He glanced around him at the other candidates, feeling lanky and childish but grinning anyway. This was so cool! There were eggs, and even if he didn't impress, he was here and... What was a dragon like? Emeliynn had sworn that he was destined to impress but... His sister was not a fortune teller or anything but a wonderfully embellished story-teller. Mleynn was just happy he could be a part of this... And that's all that mattered right?
