Lark suggested we could put the Egg's responses to our Candidates in an OoC thread, and I have to admit, I'm very curious! Here's Malta's first reaction, to kick things off. I'm afraid this one hit the nail on the head and hurt the poor girl's feelings, haha.
The White Knight to Malta Oh weren't you a bit boring. Honestly girl did you ever have anything other than dry thoughts in your head? No matter which way it turns there just seems to be nothing there but, well, logic. What about passion and beauty and wonder? What of those? Did you not stop to smell the flowers? Pfft, did you even know what a flower was, or could you only see them in the pages of your scrolls and books? Liven up, relax and enjoy things. The White Knight is here to take care of everything else, a lady should be happy and calm after all.
The Wolf to Malta Yes, just relax Malta. Take it easy, The Wolf would not bite the hand that touched it. In fact, the creature inside seemed to hush the girl in the way an older sibling may for its younger ones. There was always a sense of aloofness though, as though the egg was always watching its surroundings as well. Finally it came back to the girl, thrumming softly under her fingertips before sending her on her way to the next egg. Keep going, keep your head up, that is the way of The Wolf.
The Forgotten Knight to Malta Calm now Malta, did The Forgotten Knight's sibling not already gentle those fears? Relax, you are what you are and those you meet should embrace that. You are a thing to be reckoned with, and The Forgotten Knight appreciated that. Gently sifting through the female's mind, the Knight gave a gentle pat almost before giving a nod of sorts. Yes, you had a bright future ahead of you, so keep your chin up. Don't look back now, keep going. Steel yourself away and keep your emotions close.
The Stoic to Malta Oh, and if you left yourself open to The Stoic, the dragonet would surely delve right on in. With a pleased sort of purr, the egg sifted through the past thoughts that Malta had been going through. Yes, you had been quite emotional, but you were able to take that under control. Good, someone with a logical and straight head on their shoulders. You were not as clouded by those silly desires and needs caused by the actions and thoughts of others. Stay that way, The Stoic much preferred it.
The Imp to Malta Huh, weren't you the odd one. Intelligent, definitely. The Imp could appreciate the brains sweetheart, but don't worry about The Imp. Really, it could handle itself. The Imp didn't need anyone to help it, it had helped itself so far, and it would continue to help itself. In fact, maybe to make everyone die from shock and awe, it would hatch out and help the entire Weyr. What would you say to that Malta? Would that surprise your more logical understanding of how The Imp should be?

The Lady to Laila ~ Oh, oh! Was it time for the eggs to meet people? That sounded quite fun, and The Lady did enjoy talking to others. She could make you feel comfortable, though Laila you seem so polite and wonderful already! There is a slight purring almost coming from the egg as it presses with an equal gentle pressure up against the hand touching it as if in greeting. Just as quickly though it retreats and dims down, quieting and almost humming softly as it waits and watches for something to happen next.
The Stoic to Laila Right, well, color didn't matter all that much now did it? Queens could be frivolous dimglows and Blues could be Kings as far as The Stoic was concerned. It had more interest in someone's abilities more so than whatever they ended up looking like. Given that, the egg takes a moment to look at Laila in a cold and calculative manner. Hmmr, well, there was promise it supposed. The head was in the right space, but you still seemed too easily swayed by emotion. Keep going now, don't bother The Stoic any longer than you must girl.
The Flower to Laila The Flower was appreciative of you as well Laila. Thank you for being so kind, it was starting to get lonely. How were you today Laila? Did you enjoy meeting with The Flower's siblings, some of them were quite interesting, were they not? The Flower did enjoy the welcoming you gave though, could you pass it along to the others as well, that would be very nice. Maybe you could come back and chat with The Flower more afterwards...oh, and do not worry about what its sibling mentioned before darling girl. Emotion is a thing of beauty, never forget that.
The Forgotten Knight to Laila Greeting little lady, The Forgotten Knight enjoys the thoughts you send its way. It may be forgotten, but the knight does not mind. Sometimes it is better to be forgotten, easier. You are kind though, and gentle-hearted, no one is going to forget you any time soon Laila. There is a pleasant and warm feeling from the egg, but somewhat distant as well. It's a sort of reverence for the female that is touching its egg, as if bowing politely in front of the candidate.
The Queen to Laila An almost soft rolling laugh bubbled through Laila's mind. Such an interesting little thing you were, but you were so kind. So pretty and kind, chittering all your nice things to The Queen and its siblings. Don't mind the darker things that stay beneath the shadows on these sands, just keep thinking as you do. It could appreciate the small part of sense you had at least; the idea that a gold did not matter in the long run, well that was true in some sense. Hide mattered little when it came to real power.

The Wolf to GaiusDemanding? Was The Wolf really demanding to be touched Gauis? Attention was always welcomed, but many of its siblings craved attention far more than this one did. No, it was content with watching, waiting and protecting its clutchsiblings. As if to prove its point The Wolf took a moment to spread its senses around, and then rumbled approvingly when nothing too alarming came to mind. See, you have nothing to fear either Gauis, go forth and meet with The Wolf's pack. Or was it that you feared The Wolf and not the reaction? Did you dream that The Wolf was something darker and more evil as its name suggested? No, probably not...go on now, go on and be at ease young one. The Dragon to GaiusBig things did come in small packages, but do you really know the meaning of that boy? The Dragon certainly did! It knew that it could be better and more right for anything than its siblings could ever hope. It believed that with its entire being...or it tried to. Behind the confidence is a slight wavering uncertainty, but it is small and maybe not even noticeable. After the initial touch, The Dragon seems to pause and collect itself, thanking the candidate for his thoughts on its uniqueness. Really, all The Dragon wanted was to be noticed, and perhaps for its looks was all well and good too...beggars can't be choosers, right? The Jester to TraylorWoah! Well now then my boy, you are certainly excitable aren't you? The Jester seems to chuckle warmly at the boy's enthusiasm, rumbling against the surface of its shell. Young, that was the other thing that the dragonet inside thought, but it was glad for the attention nonetheless. Why shouldn't it get attention after all? It was the best of its siblings; everyone should be merry in its presence! Now, run along, but be careful young one. Have fun, just not too much fun, okay? ...oh, what was The Jester thinking? There wasn't a way to have too much fun!

The Rider to Koroniket
~ Tch! Oh no, you need to back up boy. What do you know of being a leader, of being deserving of authority? What battles have your fought and won, what lives have you taken, what blood have you spilled? No, you are still wet behind the ears, and you are useless to The Rider if you cannot admit that. This egg is more than glad to take you down a few pegs boy, and that thought somewhat amuses it a great deal as well. Still, there is something about your spirit that it enjoys, just learn to back it up with actual support before you go parading around like a King.
The Imp to Rineska and Kariss INCOMING! Everybody take some shardin' cover around here, who let those ash-snuffing kids on the sands? Honestly mom, don't you have any brains up there....still, The Imp takes a moment and pauses before making a sort of awkward caress back mentally toward the child and her mother. Right, okay...was this over now?

The Warrior to Bahari Oh, oh there was a sudden lurch upward toward Bahari's hand as he placed it on the egg. It was almost as if the dragonet inside is mocking him, coming straight up and saying "Ha! I do what I want!" It may be okay to blend in some times, obvious being so shardin' bright wasn't as good, but that didn't mean that this was any compliant and gentle egg. Oh no, look somewhere else if you're trying to find that boy. There's an almost childish glee in the egg's response though despite the defiance as well.
The Queen to Bahari Oh Bahari, there seems to be another egg that is mocking you, but this one is much more subtle about it. A non-too-innocent sort of laughter bubbles inside the candidate's head, followed with a sort of playfully scolding thought. Now, now, just because The Queen was not the size of a Gold Egg did not mean that it did not hold a Gold. Or, it didn't, but that did not mean that it was any less important or substantial. What was the meaning of that word Bahari? Did you care only for a shiny hide, or did your mind think further beyond that to the dragon itself? After all, the hide is only pretty wrapping for the more important package beneath....surely you know that Bahari, surely you know that.
The Imp to Bahari It survived because it was giving that sharing thing called life a middle finger boy! Come on, you're more intelligent than that, give it some thought! Small things could make the biggest dents after all. Did you think that this egg was just going to be stupid and pathetic because it was malformed? What was that about acting like an ash-snuffing fool based off of pre-formed opinions? You of everyone here should know that things were not always what they seemed, and so many things could be gathered from the darkest of places...oh yes, The Imp knew what you were up to in the middle of the night. Was it laughing at you? Perhaps, but in the best of ways as it could only approve.
The Jester to Bahari Oh? Did you think The Jester was interesting, how kind. The Jester may be kind and jovial Bahari, but it was not stupid. It knew that it was not your first choice to touch, though it could not understand why. Was the surface of something so important that you couldn't see the truth beneath? The Jester was strong, and kind and understanding, so what if it also liked having a bit of fun? Apparently you needed a reality check if you thought that there was something wrong in that equation.

The Priestess to Nyssa
Who The Priestess was looking for? Oh, did you think you knew that answer Nyssa? Did you maybe understand just how important this egg was? Did you understand the purpose left to the dragon within? No, The Priestess thought not. Perhaps you were conniving, manipulative, devious...smart as well, but you did not understand true purpose. Besides, The Priestess knew what it wanted, and what it wanted was not a person. Oh no, it had bigger things to deal with than humans. Keep going Nyssa, what you are looking for is not here, well, at least not here, here

The Boy-King to Koroniket
HA! You wanted a King, well The Boy-King would give you a King! Look no further peasant, you have found your Bronze! There seems to be a slight hissing, or maybe that was just all in the candidate's mind. Nonetheless, there is something aggressive and demanding about the egg, if not perhaps a bit whiny as well. Oh, your attention is wavering peasant? Was your attention starting to go over toward that sibling of his? That was no King, it held no wonderful thing, trust The Boy-King. Stay, stay and worship this egg instead!

The Little Princeling to Rineska and Kariss
W..was someone there? Oh...hello? The egg seems to cautiously approach the two minds, lingering far longer on Rineska's youthful spirit and childishness more so than her mothers. The egg could find common ground with the young one, it liked her. Almost as if the dragonet inside was peeking out from somewhere, The Little-Princeling taps on the two minds, shying away slightly again before crooning happily. No, it could never hate you two, promise

The Little Princeling to Motoki
Hello, you were quiet, The Little Princeling liked quiet. Poking out curiously, the dragonet softly pressed further against the egg before retreating once more. Did you really think it would be marvelous? Well...maybe just nice, nice The Princeling could do. Yes, that would be good, just to be nice. You were nice, it liked that you were nice, really it did.

The Thorn to Kariss
Oh, wasn't The Thorn popular today? Two already, almost at the same time. Almost purring in delight, the dragonet turned from the child that came first and went to the young woman who came second. Females were so very good at getting those delicious secrets it so loved. They could play the roles and slip from one to the other, but were you the right kind Kariss? Red trees, hmmr, what was inside your mind with that? Did that mean something in particular to you Kariss? Do tell The Thorn everything!

THE THORN to MLEYNN
Secrets? Oh, it would be wonderful to tell you all the secrets. However, The Thorn never gave away all of those. Secrets were its currency so to speak, and The Thorn garnered them selfishly. Dangerous? Perhaps, but not really. Honestly The Thorn was just an egg, just a baby. Really, there was nothing dangerous here. No, get on and stop bothering The Thorn child, it had no time for people that had nothing interesting to say.

The Warrior to Kariss
The Warrior, like most girls? No, The Warrior was not...most girls were stupid with their frilly gossiping and other such frivolous things. The Warrior was a bit simpler than that, and yet more complex as well. In the end, the dragonet inside just wanted to be more than a "little lord or lady", it wanted to be free of that. To gossip and to snicker and to become flighty was not The Warrior's way, not at all Kariss.

The Flower to Motoki
Ah, Motoki, aren't you just the sweetest thing. You're very kind to say such nice things, and The Flower is very grateful. It hopes that it can live up to that sentiment most definitely. It seems to approve of the gentle approach you have had toward it and its siblings, and it presses up against the candidate's hand with a delicate purr.

The Wolf to Motoki
Well, at least you understood what it tried to portray. The Wolf was a creature that needed lee-way and simplicity to be what it was, and it had layers upon layers of its forming personality. At the core was something more, and little by little it was finding ways to shine that light. It also cared for its siblings though, in a similar way to how you cared about the other eggs and showed them kindness. The Wolf thanks you for that.
