[atrb=width,100%,true][atrb=cellPadding,4,true][atrb=colspan,5] The Start of Our Troubles | The Long Story- | It was the 197th turn when Sahelli, the Weyrwoman of Trelis Weyr suddenly betweened with her Gold Mivinth without warning. Chaos followed as the Weyr fretted over which of the Junior Weyrwomen's dragons would rise first. Many riders left not trusting the results, and those that stayed were torn between who they supported more. Finally, in 198 Loraketh rose. She was the younger of the two, and her rider was only 19 at the time.
Fortunately thread was still a good decade away though and everything went over smoothly. Led by two young riders however, many of the weyrfolk were torn between staying and leaving. It was only another turn though before the two won over the majority of the Weyr. It wouldn't be until in a later clutch in the turn of 199 that the first of the new colors were officially seen. A Topaz named Kayath, an Obsidian named Talath, and a Garnet named Emiath.
From there Pern went into a state of shock. Not only did others of the same color start to pop up in the other Weyrs, but more appeared as well. They did not only affect the dragons, but the whers and firelizards as well. Some were hatched only a few times before they ceased to be seen again, others seamed to be here to stay. It was in the Autumn of 200 that a group of riders from Ista attacked Trelis, the "origin" of the mutations.
Flaming a gather, S'vrin's wing of Istan riders terrorized the newer Weyr until they were forced away by the united efforts of the Queens and Queenlets. It wouldn't be the last they heard of the mystery riders however, not long after S'vrin came again and kidnapped a few of the weyrbrats that were children of important riders and crafters. Trelis came after them, finding that Ista Weyr had been keeping a secret all along.
An Obsidian had been hatched there first, and she now had a clutch of her own on the sands of a smaller island not far away. In the end, the Obsidian and her rider were sent to another "safer" Weyr...they were never heard from again. Her children however came back to Trelis, and S'vrin and his wing disappeared for the next few turns. In the time after that there was only one other big event before the current issues started.
The Great Storm came in the Summer of 201. It wrecked Sollace Hold, leaving many dead and more injured and without shelter. The refugees flocked to Trelis Weyr, and in the midst of it all Inali and Loraketh went to Southern Weyr to seek out help. They never thought that they would be sabatoged however, and kept weeks, Loraketh finally rose again on Southern's territory. It was a brown that caught her in her fury, and the rider did the unthinkable. When Ar'rex could not gain his rightful power at Trelis, he attempted to steal the Sub-Queen egg from Loraketh's clutch.
The rider did not get far, and he betweened to safety. Along with S'vrin, Ar'rex was thought to have been long gone and forgotten. There was a war brewing under the surface of peace that followed.
| The Short Story- | - When the old Senior Weyrwoman died, Inali's Loraketh was the first to rise, thus making her Senior Weyrwoman.
- A few turns into her leadership new colors started to appear as well as a few very rare mutations in dragons, whers and Firelizards.
- A band of riders from Ista came together and attacked Trelis with the hopes of ridding Pern of the impurities of the new colors.
- The left over riders from that attack hid until they could build up reinforcements, at the same time another group that was for the colors and mutations arose as well headed by an Obsidianrider named Noita.
- Threadfall started for the second time since the New Fall and Inali's Loraketh was injured and betweened leaving the newly graduated Iirla and Izanycorth in charge.
- The riders that had attacked Trelis before took their chance as Trelis became torn and easily frustrated over the new leadership. Add the growing Rebellion into this mix and soon there was a war brewing beneath the surface.
