Things had not been going D'ale's way, lately. There was the gold flight, which, naturally, put him in a sour mood. There was also a council. Ramoth only knows what they were meeting about. The greenrider had heard rumors, of course. In the wake of the Flight, it could have been anything. A dragon had been killed. That much, he knew for certain, Iavanth had felt it when the male had been taken from the world. But after that? Who knew. Punishment? Shards, for all he knew, it could be a sharding reward.
Nasty, sharding metallic riders. Under the impression they could just decide things, the rest of them would follow. Greenriders, when did they have opinions? Oh, not D'ale. Never D'ale.
With that in mind, the man stomped down to the Weyrbowl. Are we going to eat? his green chimed into his head, fluttering down to meet him. The man had a bucket and a brush in one hand, the other fist clenched as he marched on down towards the lake. "No," he barked. "You're getting a bath."
Iavanth, being the wise creature she was, detected now was not exactly the time to argue. She could have something to eat later. Picking her way after him, the pale green slid into the water when they arrived at the shore, careful not to make too much splash. It is warm today, perhaps a bath will feel nice, she commented, trying to soothe her rider.
D'ale just pulled his shirt over his head and glowered at her. "Don't placate me," he snapped, reaching for his brush. "Do you want a bath or not?"

Plaeth was down at the lake when the greenrider and his dragon arrived. She was giving herself a bath, as L'gree had decided she should get a bath today but was a bit hung up doing some other things. Sure, she could wait for him - and in fact he'd told her to do just that - but it was much more fun to flop around in the water by herself. Waiting was boring. And okay, maybe flapping her wings when they were half-underwater, thus spraying water everywhere, wasn't the most effective way of taking a bath but...she was getting wet, and that was at least half the point of bathing, right?
L'gree had given a token resistance and told her to go back to their weyr and wait for him, but of course that had fallen on deaf ears...headknobs...whatever. Now, he was tuning her out, and so he didn't notice her spike of interest as the green pair arrived.
She abruptly stopped her splashing, watching D'ale for a few seconds. With that scowl, he kind of reminded her of Hers. She wondered who had the more impressive glower. Maybe he would be interested in a contest? Oooh, that could be fun.
She took a step towards him and his dragon, then changed her mind. Walking was too normal. She would swim. Of course, the water was too shallow for proper swimming, and so she ended up squirming forward through the mud on her stomach, wings and tail flailing to try to push herself forward with the water.
Finally getting close-ish (after no doubt drenching both D'ale and Iavanth), she spoke up, words directed at the rider but including the dragon to be polite. Hi there grumpybum. Whatcha frowning about?

Incoming!
But Iavanth's warning came far too late. The amethyst had already created a miniature tidal wave, and no sooner had D'ale started to step into the water than was he completely drenched. The green, for her part, didn't mind terribly. After all, they were here for a bath. She was going to get wet one way or another, now wasn't she? And it wasn't as though it was cold, either. Sighing a bit, she glanced over at Plaeth.
Good day, Plaeth, she greeted the other female. I hope you and Yours are well? The dragon continued to try and ignore her rider as he dragged himself upright again. Bucket and brush were floating away towards the center of the lake, and the man stood hunched, glowering daggers at the perky little amethyst.
"The sun is shining far too brightly, my head hurts, and I truly hate such bright, sharding happy individuals as yourself," D'ale snapped, folding his arms over this chest. "Did you need something? Because I'm sharding busy."
That was mean, Ivanath scolded almost immediately. Plaeth is only being friendly, and if you do not want to be asked, do not scowl so much, Mine. There is no need to be so coarse. The green sighed heavily, shaking her head as she turned to look back at the other dragon. Honestly, her rider was worse than a little boy some days. She often wondered what she saw in him.
You will have to excuse Mine, Plaeth. The recent events have left him in a humor more foul than usual.

Plaeth nodded at Iavanth. I'm good. He's being busy doing...something. I don't know. We'll probably go out looking for people soon. Since there are gonna be eggs! That last sentence held more than a little excitement. She liked hatchings. Not just because there were new people popping into the world, but because it meant she got to search, and then see how many of her Candidates Impressed. It was a great time to rack up points and win every game known to dragonkind. At least that's how she saw it.
She was about to ask Iavanth how she was doing when D'ale spoke again. Apparently getting drenched hadn't increased his happiness levels. You should smile more. Then your head would hurt less. Was that right? She was sure she'd heard it somewhere before...maybe she was just remembering the last time she'd told L'gree that. Busy being a grump, yeah. She gave him a reproving look. Seriously, the sun was lovely, and she was just being friendly. He had to be putting in a lot of effort to be unhappy.
She tilted her head a little at Iavanth's words. Recent events? What? Why's he growly about recent events?

Oh yes! Eggs! With D'ale so grumpy about his actions, the green had almost forgotten what a gold flight actually meant. How exciting! Iavanth seemed to perk up a bit, rustling her wings as she gave a nod. Ah, yes! We will be doing the searching soon, as well. I wish Mine would enjoy it a little more. The green sighed heavily. It had been three solid turns, and he hated Hatchings even more with each passing one. There had been a time he was playing those games, too. They'd been a good pair.
"I was busy washing my dragon," D'ale informed Plaeth. Even if he didn't particularly look like it. But that wasn't the point. Where had his bucket and brush got off to? They were floating away in the lake somewhere. The rider waded after them, and Iavanth just shook her head.
Decided to go deeper into the water, she motioned with a wing for the amethyst to join her. Recent events? Oh, yes. He made some poor decisions concerning bed partners recently. I really don't understand why he's allowing the unhappiness to fester. Iavanth shook her head, laying her head down on the water. At least it felt nice. He's in a constant fight. It takes the fun out of everything, I am telling you.
"Iavanth!" D'ale growled, swimming out to his dragon. "Don't be such a gossip."
Well, it's true.
