Noraali narrowed her eyes at Inali. "Let's not focus on that folly you so blatantly point out, former Weyrwoman, but the task at hand. What's done is done. Mistakes are made. I will not speak with you after this. But with Rikula. Alone." She ahd not invited her here to be talked down to or looked down on. she would not order her around. She was Weyrwoman now. So what if she had made a bad call. "I ceed that it would have been wiser. Though I had not actually expected either of them to come. But if they did, I ahd predicted that he would bring Samara. Now." She turned her back to Inali. She was not going to even give her the satisfaction of seeing that she was not happy with what she had said. She frowned. "Imiika is here. You are here. To late to back out now. She and Vl'kan have already met and I believe that she has a legitimate reason to be here." She was quiet as she moved to stand behind Riku, pulling her forward beside her gently. "Everyone take your seats."
Seh was unhappy - bristling. Nothing went as plan. She had miscalculated and that angered her. She hated it. She despised it. Perhaps she should jsut go home. She was seriously contemplating leaving Riku in charge right now and leaving the next day. She ahd failed. Horridly. But this meeting would go her way, she had to be certain of it.
She frowned, listening to Riku. "We won't take such measures as clipping wings and muzzling. That is not humane. There must be another way." She started to pace irritably.
We must do something. But I concur with my rider in that this is incorrect action to take. Any pain felt by the dragon will be felt by the rider. Enough pain can cause irreparable damage. Not only to hte dragon but to he rider's mind. The rider's midn is not meant to live with such pains. We could simply make things worse. From the reports, these measures have made little difference. Let us not forget that Thormyth did not kill a bronze. But the gold did, Izanycorth. Noraali was irritated at the moment. "A muzzle may not be the end of hte world. But do not forget what consequences a muzzle carries." She had her hands behind her back. She was acting as if nothing had just happened.
"Freedom is a dangerous tool and we all have it. Who are we to say what freedom one is allowed and one is not when we are free creatures ourselves?" Imiika spoke up, cutting off the Weyrwoman who gave her a glare. She shrugged. "Thormyth did indeed kill a child of this Weyr.
My own daughter commanded him not.
"Ah, this is true. A queen's mind is supposed to be able to compel other dragons. But these were indeed the actions of an individual. The degree to which these garnets are unstable would seem to vary. I have done my reading. Braymoth extensively harmed his own bonded. Enjoyed her blood? Am I correct? Emiath, which, Inali, your dragon bore, what was the worst crime he committed? Now we all know Thormyth's-"
Noraali frowned and spoke up. "Imiika. Please." She was losing control and this did not make her happy. She had been a Goldrider and Weyrwoman for at least fifteen years, seeing as how Ehtyriath had risen when she was two turns of age.

You should not be there, J'degar. The deep, rumblning voice of his brown reminded him once again, as if repeated mention would change his mind. This was J'degar though, the man was stubborn as an ox when he wanted to be and by Faranth he was not being left out of this meeting! Sure, he wasn't entirely sure of the context of the little get together, but whispers and rumors had been floating around about what happened at the flight.
In hindsite, J'degar realized giving up his position as a weyrlingmaster was not the brightest idea. It may not have been a dream job, but it had afforded him the rank he needed to get into these meetings, and from what he could make out... they really needed someone with his insight in there. At first things had seemed almost alright, everything going in a proper manner. But J'degar had spied on the people going into the room, and suffice to say he was aware of how many sharding women they allowed in there. The meeting was clearly doomed to fail from the start.
As expected, soon it sounded like things were getting out of hand. He couldn't make out everything that was going on, but from the yelling it seemed someone had stepped far out of line. No doubt it was that sharding Samara, he knew her from Southern and she had been trouble from the start. A sound down the hallway caused him to duck away from the entrance to hide, in time to see not one, but two more sharding women enter the meeting. Oh shards no, they didn't even have any rank!
He should just go in there. If they were letting anyone in now, especially two people who likely lacked the intelligence of a man (even if one was a woman he somewhat respected), he had just as much right to barge in! Because eavesdropping and spying will garner you the respect you need to sway the fighting into your favor. Syphraelth rumbled, amused.
J'degar deigned not to respond to his dragon, but he didn't storm into the meeting. Instead, he just, childishly, pressed a glass to the door and continued attempting to listen from it. J'degar: master eavesdropper.
"I think I've heard a herd of goats make more progress than these brats." He grumbled, shifting the glass a bit. His voice was kept far low enough not to be heard within the room. From what he could hear, he almost felt sorry for Vl'kan being trapped in the room with so much emotional nonsense. Almost. The man was nothing more than a mutantrider after all. "This is why you can't give women authority. They waste it on senseless prattering."

D'thor and N'tal had both entered the meeting at approximately the same time. Iro'ris, as usual, was skipping out. He didn't like the pomp and circumstance of the council meetings, or the idiocy that usually came with them, so he never went. Eventually he'd get smacked for it, but so far he had managed to get away with never showing up.
N'tal and D'thor, however, were both too rigid and fond of rules not to show up, though both men had kept quiet so far on the subject at hand. N'tal had not spoken because he was taking notes, as he usually did, but D'thor… he always had an opinion. So far, however, he had done nothing but sit in his back-corner seat, smoking a pipe, his chair wreathed in smoke.
The Weyrlingmaster, it seemed, was deep in thought. No progress had been made, and by this point people were entering the room who had no business being there. So far, nothing had been dealt with. A fight had broken out, and that was about it.
D'thor took a long puff from the pipe, letting the smoke fall around him. Slowly, he removed the pipe from his mouth and leaned forward. As a rather intimidating man, he hoped his movement would attract some attention before what he said really set things off. Most seemed to be of the mind that nothing should be done to the Garnets, or minute measures at best. D'thor was of a different opinion. Turning to look directly at Vl'kan, he finally voiced his thoughts on the matter.
"They should be killed. Executed. All of them. No exceptions."

Koroniket had heard about this council meeting. By the time the gossip had trickled down to him, it was being said that this was a meeting to geld all male dragons other than bronzes, lest their hormones make them too rowdy. Bronzes, of course, would be kept intact to continue their lines.
Koroniket was intelligent to know that that was a lie, but there was no doubting that something irrational was going to be proposed. Entirely too many women in that room. After some debate, he decided it was his duty to the weyr to show up. Sure, he wasn't a ranking member of the weyr, but that was just because he'd not Stood, yet. Soon enough, he'd have a bronze, and once his bronze was old enough, he'd be weyrleader. If that didn't give him the right to speak in a council meeting, this weyr was ridiculous.
And so, Ko arrived at the council chamber. He gave J'degar a curious look, then pushed open the doors and strode in. He arrived just in time to hear D'thor's pronouncement. His eyes widened a bit. "Truly? I would expact that from her," he gestured to the rider of the deceased brown, "but certainly not from you!" He knew nothing about D'thor, granted. Just that he was male, and therefore meant to be reasonable.
He crossed his arms over his chest, levelling a glare at all present. "Dragons are animals. We all are. And animals destroy those weaker than them, when necessary. The garnet was doing nothing different, and he shouldn't be punished for that. We can't afford to be killing off fighters, especially ones so valuable as garnets. You really want to cull out the strong males? Unless you enjoy being eaten by Thread, you seem to be making an incredibly foolish decision."
He'd said his piece, and now he fell silent for the moment, so that everyone would have a chance to agree with him.

Fan-freaking-tastic!
Gritting her teeth Rikula bit back the sharp retort she had readied when one of the riders asked for outright execution. Yes, opinions were wanted here. Yes, she knew that there would be all sorts of opinions. Still, to take a dragon from one already bonded...it was inhumane to the highest of levels. Did this rider not think of his own bonded, or the reason why they were discussing this? What made them so different than the troublesome Garnets if they killed as willingly? It was not as if all were incapable of controlling themselves, and with discipline they tended to have few discrepancies. Rikula did not think that she wanted them to go without any change in training, but certainly not to massacre many.
So, when the young man burst into the room shouting, she let her cup of klah clatter against the table as she set it down...hard "This meeting was supposed to be for the leaders to discuss before bringing to the rest of the Weyr." Narrowing green-grey eyes at the, were those candidate knots on him? Sighing, she straightened, shoulders tensed more than she could think possible. First Samara and G'lwein, then Inali and Imiika and now this one and.....was that J'degar listening in on the other side of the door that she saw behind the newcomer? Yes, yes that was. "Apparently this discussion was not as private as we originally thought."
Turning to Noraali, she gave the Senior Weyrwoman a look that clearly meant shit was hitting the fan and they needed to do clean-up. "I think tension is too high right now, especially given our latest out burst. Perhaps a recess to settle ourselves would be best." Majoriith, tell Ehtyriath that we need to pull together and discuss this more given our new findings. If people are throwing around such extremes then we need to consider bringing this discussion to a larger basis of the Weyr. We cannot do that here, especially not with so many factors pulling attention in various directions.
Obediently the young gold tapped on her mother's mind, waiting until she had the okay to speak to the older Queen. Mine thinks that we should have Ours end the meeting for now before it gets...messier. This may be a matter for the Weyr, especially if we are already having people hearing rumors and coming to our door. We do not need to incite panic, nor do we need to put any more stress on Amiith's rider at the moment.
