[/size]Imiika
PB: Astrid Berges-Frisbey
Name: Imiika
Pronunciation: ih-meekuh
Age: 20 Turns
Season Born In: Spring
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance:
Like her late sister, Imiika is far from tall. She stands at only four foot nine inches, an entire inch shorter than Iirla, a fact that she is well aware of and decidedly not a fan of. Her long, brown, wavy hair is a perfect match in color and tone to Iirla's, though she wears hers, perhaps, a bit longer. Her skin is a cream colored, smooth, soft porcelain with a small spattering of freckles on her arms and face that her sister lacked. Her face is full of sharp angles. From a sharp, defined chin, to a rather sharp and angular nose, high cheekbones and rather defined eyes with just that little edge to them, framed by dark lashes. her lips are a perfect soft cupids bow shape. Her eyes are a deep, piercing hazel with a brown ring around her pupil, unlike Iirla's deep brown.
Imiika's hair serves to soften her otherwise severe look. Her ears are usually wide open and looking out at the world, studying, watching, waiting. On what, no one is quite sure. She's not quite sure. She is just waiting for something ot happen. The set of her mouth is often slightly severe, though if you can coax a smile out of her, it will likely be dazzling somewhat dazzling, though often short lived. She is aware of this fact and she will try to paste one on for people. It's just not easy. She can be a bit severe in tone and of nature.
Imiika will often stand with her slender arms at her side. Slender fingers will often be curled into her palms as if she is ready to defend herself if the need should arise. Imiika's slender shoulders are often squared and held back, her hair often pulled over one shoulder or the other. It is only pulled back or braided for riding and that is only to keep it out of her face while in the air. She thinks her hair one of her most beautiful features.
Imiika may appear to be delicate, but it is not a good idea to think her defenseless as there is a goodly amount of wiry muscle beneath all that slender beauty and shapely body and she does know how to use it. There is a definite air of command and control about her. It is almost eery in a its own right.
Personality:
There are a few rules you're going to want to follow when interacting with Imiika:
1. Don't compare her to Iirla.
2. Don't call her small, short, little, or tiny.
3. Don't underestimate her.
Imiika is nothing if not bold and brave. She almost seems to have no fear at all. She isn't afraid to stand up to those who outrank her. She isn't afraid to be punished for it. And she is definitely not afraid to speak her mind. Whatever her mind may be. Stubborn doesn't even begin to describe the half of it. There is no changing her mind - not without sound reason and a good plan. Imiika will always try to find the best path to victory or to what she wants and she will obtain it at any costs. Her personal belief is that leadership should not be determined by the color of dragon you ride, but your capability, and she lives it every day. Those who deserve power do not often have if thrust upon them. They must learn to take control where they need to and offer the leadership that the people need. Not all gold or bronze riders are particularly well suited for such a task. In fact, sometimes riders aren't well suited at all and it comes down to people like her to fix things.
Imiika doesn't like to be underestimated or told she can't do something. For whatever reason. She will strive to prove you wrong with her same stubborn attitude that she shows in her mindset.... or at least she'll try. She hates admitting when she fails, but she will... if only begrudgingly. Imiika looks on herself and works on her faults, though, she is often dismayed when, upon reflection, she seems more than she would like.
Im has a mind for planning and strategy. She is always thinking no less than three moves ahead and may become frustrated when she is unable to. She doesn't like it when she can't plan out what her next move is and likes it even less when that could lead to others being harmed due to that inability.
For all of Imiika's personal ideals, ideas and strivings, she tends to be a very kind person. She wants to look after others, for all that it isn't her strong suit, her desire is very great. She will never stand idly by and let someone hurt. Her temper is easily stirred by injustice and it is a very great temper for such a small, and delicate person. Imiika has no qualms with anger - anger sometimes gets things done. It is a powerful emotion that can push people forward. She may purposefully anger someone if she thinks it might bring them to action. Bring them to life in some cases. But she is always careful. Despite the fact that she is willing to take the risks that this may bring to herself, she is unwilling to take a risk to another person.
Imiika really doesn't seem like the type who would look after the young children of the Weyr, but she has a soft heart underneath all her appearances and posturing and she won't hesitate to look after a child. Imiika tries to look stronger than she really is emotionally at all times. After all, there are always eyes open. so she tries to keep her own eyes wide up and watching as well. She does her best to set a good example.
However, Imiika is a sucker for romance - whether it is hers or someone else. She loves a good love story and wants one for herself as well. No matter how impossible it seems to her. She has a tendency to turn men away or her ambitions do at least. She has never had much luck as far as romance is concerned, but she does her best not to let it bother her, even though, deep down, it stings a little bit.
Imiika absolutely abhors being short and will not tolerate anyone referring to her in such a way. She has a bit of a Napoleon complex. But she does her best not to let it show. Though it usually fails. This is something else that had made relationships difficult for her as she is so short she is almost childlike to many men. She doesn't like being called cute, small, or delicate. It makes her feel insignificant and unimportant when she is determined she is anything but. She didn't stop until she was searched to Telgar Weyr.

History:
It is no wonder that Iirla and Imiika did not get along very well from teh tiem they were young. Imiika was always head strong and difficult. Iirla often didn't want to have to deal with her younger sister, though she had to. For a while at least. To Imiika, Iirla had always been the mother figure. She had always held that place. Becasue, you see, Imiika was too young to really remember anything but a vague idea of her mother and father. She remembers her uncle. Vividly. She remembers him selling his nieces and nephews off one by one to whoever would pay. And the why wasn't important to her. It still isn't. There is no reason any human being should be sold. Ever.
Imiika was the last of her siblings left. And the young girl, then only nine turns, ran. She ran as far and as fast and as well as he could. She hid from her uncle. She hid from everyone. She learned to steal and take what she needed at a young age. Until, when she was twelve turns, she was caught trying to pickpocket a Healer in Sollace. That's right. A Healer caught her pickpocketing. And not just an apprentice or a Journeyman.
"What are you doing child?" His voice was surprisingly calm and Imiika looked up at him, her dirt smeared face and matted hair hiding her budding beauty. Making her safer in a way. "I need to eat." That was all she said and she said it defiantly. He was privileged. He wouldn't understand. "Then come, child." He gave her hand a tug and began to drag the young girl behind him... back to where he was staying and prepared her a meal. A room was made up for her. "I will take you back the Healer Hall. You can apprentice there and learn to make an honest living."
And that was that. The end of a life of thievery and tricks and developing her dark talents - though they still remained with her much to the dismay of her teachers, but she was not without promise and a gift for healing. Her strong will and determination helped her in her studies.
When she was fifteen, she became very interested in being a mind healer as she learned more about it and started to put her focus there. It was hard work, but it was rewarding work. She was able to help others and, in a way, more effectively lead, something she wants and has wanted her whole life. Because she has known she has the capacity to do so.
Imiika did not send word to Iirla during this time. It wasn't until after she walked the tables at the age of eighteen turns, now two turns ago and shortly before Iirla's death. She was shocked to discover her sister was Weyrwoman at Trelis and had a child. A child named Kiira.
She sent word again and she waited... with no response. When one finally did come it was grave and disheartening news. Her older sister was dead. Died of sickness and her daughter was left alone in the Weyr to be raised by the friends Iirla had. Of which, it sounded like there were many. Imiika then started to work for the ability to transfer or move closer. It took time and a lot of requesting as she was needed in the North at that time to help those who had suffered in the Turns that had come and the struggle over the new colors. When Imiika was allowed to leave, it was two turns later and it was not a smooth transition - she was expected to go to Sollace and serve two turns there, which she did. At the end of that time... She was Searched to the Weyr she had been trying to get to. To Trelis Weyr.
She is where she needs to be now and where she has been trying to get for the past two Turns. She isn't concerned about being a Candidate or Impressing. She is concerned about her niece - Kiira and helping to care for her. The Weyr was probably the best place for her and Imiika isn't about to take her elsewhere to raise her. Not where ther eare people who will care for the young girl there. And then, let's not forget, she has her dad to worry about too - gotta get him back into shape and all.
