Talian sighed lightly as she stared up at the afternoon sky. It was a beautiful day in the young weyrbrat’s eyes. The sky was blue, and the clouds were large and fluffy. Normally she was inseparable from her twin sister Inoria, but today was one of the rare days she snuck off to be by herself and watch the clouds. She enjoyed watching the clouds as they changed shapes, just a little bit ago she had seen a cloud that looked like a dog, and had excitedly clapped her hands and hugged her own faithful, four legged companion, Princess.
The canine happily beat her tail on the ground and licked her human’s face lovingly. Now the large canine was lying beside Talian and Chef, Talian’s white firelizard, relaxing in the warm air of summer. Chef yawned lazily as he lay on Talian’s stomach, rising up and down in time with her breathing. In all it was a rather lazy day, as far as Talian knew, pretty much everyone was taking it easy today. Well, all of the other kids around the Weyr anyways.

Liandra wasn't really sure what she thought of her new home. The healer lady was nice enough, she had her brother, but the weyr was large and as of yet she hadn't had time to explore it properly. Everyone seemed to think she couldn't do anything, and that frustrated her more than anything else. She could do things without help she didn't need to be coddled and yet... everyone seemed to think they had to coddle. Ahead of her, Drael dipped in and out of sight, chirping multiple times as Liandra scrambled after him.
No doubt, someone would come and find her and drag her back to the weyr, but for the moment, the sickly looking girl was more than happy to run around in the sunshine, glancing up at the cloud occassionally, but mostly just caught up in that game of tag. Drael, however, had his sights set on something else. There was another white! Like him! Chirping excitedly, the white firelizard dove to join the other, yellowed wings flapping excitedly even once he was on the ground as he wiggled closer to Chef. Another white! Look at it! he hadn't seen another white in forever!
A sharp whistle broke the white's chattering, and whirling eyes met those of his little mistress, her hands moving in those signs he knew so well while her cheeks flamed with colour bright enough that had Drael not been able to feel the embarrassment coming off her, he might have worried for a fever. With an apologetic cheep, the firelizard returned to Liandra's shoulder.

Chef lifted his white head when he heard another firelizard’s excited chirp, and watched as the other white dove to land on the ground beside him and His. He lifted himself up and hopped off of Talian’s stomach to stand in front of this new firelizard and looked him over curiously. Talian rubbed her belly where her firelizard had hopped off of her, and sat up, looking down curiously at the firelizard who had caught Chef’s attention. Now there was something that very few people knew about Talian, and that was the fact that she had the ability to communicate with any and all firelizards.
Talian smiled and sent the little white a happy greeting in her own way, which was just her sending him happy feelings. Then she heard someone whistling, and figured that it would be the owner of the white firelizard. She picked up her own firelizard and put him on her shoulder, then gave her curious canine the signal to follow her. Then she stood up and waved at the other young girl. It wasn’t often that Talian got to see someone she didn’t really know, and was actually rather excited about meeting someone closer to her own age. She could tell that the other girl was embarrassed by her flaming cheeks, and wondered how she could make her feel a little less uncomfortable.
