B'den didn't need to look in his dragon's weyr to know she was restless. Kohenkyoth's tail gave a loud thump every time she twitched, and it was a sure sign that she was feeling energetic and disinclined to sit around. Therefore, when her voice spoke up in his head, he was already expecting what she would say.
It's a slow day today, isn't it? Why don't we get out of the Weyrhold for a while, B'den? I want to go flying.
B'den gave a shrug and smiled. "Sure, why not? He stood up and called for his flitters. Dione did not respond, though he got the impression the gold fire lizard was napping somewhere, and he decided to leave her along. Metrodora, on the other hand, flew from wherever she had been to perch on his table, chirping curiously.
Let's head to the plains, Kohenkyoth said, flexing her wings. I'm feeling a bit peckish. Since we're going out anyway, we might as well hunt for wild wherries instead of taking them from Rindell's herds.
It was a short flight on dragonback from the Weyrhold to Rindell Island's outer plains. The green's flight was simple and fast, but leave it to Metrodora to show off. Kohenkyoth was content with a straight flight, but the huntyre loved to show off her aerial skills. She dove and circled around the pair.
It didn't take Kohenkyoth long to spot a flock of wherries gathered around a stream. She landed a short distance away from them in order to let B'den dismount, and then the green was stalking off to catch her meal.
B'den stretched out on the grass to watch the green go to work. Metrodora landed on his knee, and since the forest huntyre loved the attention, he stroked her head and neck feathers while he watched. They were both pretty much oblivious to anything else that might have been going on around them.
