It's too muggy out here, Ninianeth complained to her rider. Despite her complaints, she made no suggestion to move from her perch on a sunning rock, where she was soaking up the heat from the early afternoon sun.
"Well, you're the one who suggested we come out here. I believe it was because you didn't want to be stuck in your weyr all day?" A'tide pointed out. He had taken a break from oiling Regal, and the obsidian fire lizard hissed at his lack of focus. She had always enjoyed the attention, and the fire lizard had curled herself around A'tide's fingers and lounged almost feline-like while he oiled her. A'tide sighed. Caught between a dragon and a fire lizard, both demanding his attention. Business as usual.
Well, I didn't know it would be so stifling. I wish it would rain, the wingless green said.
A'tide held back a grin. "No, you don't. Then you'd be complaining because it was raining and you couldn't go out to bask," he teased. Though his attention was focused on his fire lizard, A'tide still kept an ear open to tell what was going on around them, though as far as he could tell, they were alone, apart from A'tide's pets. Regal crooned as he finished applying the oil to her wingsails, and beside him, he could hear Zexx's panting. The canine's working collar had come off as soon as A'tide had sat down, but the canine was well-conditioned to not roam too far all the same.
It didn't particularly surprise him that not many people were out. Ninianeth's complaints aside, it was pretty hot. Most people, A'tide suspected, were either going to be focusing on in-door chores at this time of day or going for a swim. They hadn't gone far at all from the main caverns, but A'tide still didn't expect any company.
