Ryiah
Name: Ryiah
Pronunciation: Ree-yah
Age: 22 Turns
Season Born In: Spring
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance:
Ryiah is a redhead. Her long hair doesn't look it though, it's a dark enough color that it looks sort of brownish, but in the light it is definitely a natural red in color. She stands at around 5' 3" tall, so she isn't the tallest person ever. Her skin is pale, and without the normal bouquet of freckles that normal redheads have. Her eyes are a pale hazel color.
Her nose is small, and so are her lips. She wears dark colored tops with complementary light colored pants normally. Her boots are riding boots, now that she is a weyrling. She is still trying to get used to them.
Personality:
Ryiah is a hard worker. She hates leaving a task undone, and usually follows orders to a tee. If someone tells her that the laundry needs to be done, she'll do it. The floors need to be cleaned in circular motions, she's got that handled as well. Most of the time, she'll work herself to the point where she just falls onto her bed and falls asleep.
This girl also likes to make sure that everyone is happy. It makes her sad to see others sad. If some people are arguing, though, she'll normally keep her distance. She hates being brought into the middle of things. If she is brought into the middle of an argument, she normally goes mute or just groans in exasperation.
She can be forgetful at times. Ryiah believes this is due to her focusing on whatever she was doing when she was told this new information. But in reality, it's more due to the fact that she overworks herself. Exhaustion does not make for a good memory. If she got more sleep, she may be able to remember everything a little better.
Family: Rhyanon-Mother-Healer-34 Turns
Ianbon-Father-Harper-37 Turns
Iryban-Brother-Smith/Dragon Candidate-1 turn older than his sister.
Location: Trelis
Rank: Weyrlingmaster
Wing/Pack: Queen's Wing
History:
Ryiah was born into a mismatched family. Her mother was a Healer, her father a Harper, and her brother had plans of being a Smith. For the longest time, she didn't know what to do with her life. She thought of joining a caravan a few times. But each time she tried, her brother forcibly stopped her and dragged her back to her old life.
Needless to say, the two didn't get along very well. They were always at each other's throats. This was wrong with what she did, or that wasn't the way he was supposed to talk to her. There was barely a moment's peace between the two. And they were always in a competition. Who could do better was the game they were playing. And usually, Iryban did better.
It was probably because he was older and most of the tasks they did were physical tasks, but Ryiah still hated it. Only when she was thirteen turns old did she get a chance to beat her brother. A dragon had come on Search from Telgar Weyr. Though the two of them were Searched that day, they both knew they would continue their little game of who could do better. So they changed the rules a bit.
Whoever Impressed the better dragon would be the winner. Though they'd have to wait until the both of them Impressed to see who that was. Hatchings came and went with neither brother nor sister Impressing. It was at a Hatching three turns after they first arrived that she Impressed. And it was completely unexpected.
Ryiah had been watching a Green, the dragon she thought she'd Impress, as she walked around the Sands looking for a suitable Candidate. She didn't even notice the Obsidian hatch from her shell. Though her brother did, Ryiah saw him straighten up and looked to see why he would. That is when she saw the newly hatched Obsidian.
Still, she watched the Green with slightly more interest. It came as a surprise to her to hear another voice in her mind as she watched the Green, but the Green had definitely not Impressed to her. RyiahMine, my sister will surely Impress when she finds Hers. But for now, Your Morideth needs some food. Could we go now? The Obsidian's voice rang inside her mind.
At first, she didn't know what to think. She'd Impressed sure, but this was a new color. She was utterly shocked. Though she was still Impressed that a sub-Queen had chosen her. But the Obsidians had never really been favorably looked upon, and that worried her a bit. Would others treat her poorly for Impressing the Color she did? The rebellion crossed her mind briefly, but she didn't want to join in on that part. No, she wanted to live as non-confrontational a life as possible.
Her brother was just staring at the new pair with a determined look, like he was going to Impress a better color than that. Ryiah laughed him off. Morideth was the best dragon in her world now and forever more. She didn't much care for their little game anymore. So Ryiah waved to her brother and left to feed Morideth.
Throughout Weyrlinghood, she worked her tail off, and possibly would have worked Morideth's off is she let her. Morideth was actually the one to keep her grounded. They graduated near the top of their class, with only one or two Weyrling pairs ahead of them. So Ryiah was very happy about that. Turns went by, and Ryiah felt like she was missing something.
She transferred to Trelis to see if that would help, but it didn't. She chose the Weyr mainly for the reason that they seemed more accepting of the new colors than other Weyrs did. The fact that their sub-Queens and Queens were not the luckiest of dragons did startle her, but every dragon had a risk of dying. So she decided to brave the fear that was rising in her belly and go. Soon after her arrival she requested to become the Candidatemaster, but that position was already filled. So she requested Weyrlingmaster to find that position still open. True, it was not normal for a Sub-Queen rider to fill the position, but she felt like it would make her even more useful to the Weyr and was ready to defend that position.
Morideth
Name: Morideth
Pronunciation: More-I-death
Age: 6 Turns
Rank: Obsidian
Size: 44 feet
Color Codes: 363636 {Main Body} 280239 {Purple patches on wings}
Appearance:
Morideth is on the large side for an Obsidian. Her hide is a light color of black, possibly mixed with silver. Her wings have some different colors on them. Towards her main body, Morideth has a large patch of purple on both of her wings. While in the middle, closer to the far edges of her wings, Morideth has some smaller patches of purple. The patch of purple that is closer to the edge on the left wing is slightly smaller than the one on the right wing.
Personality:
Like most other Obsidians, Morideth likes to stay in the background. She'll be a leader if she absolutely must, but only then. She's more of the observing type. She observes most of what's going on in the Weyr, from Rukbat rising to the Weyrbrats playing in the lake. She's not as patient as some other Obsidians, but she definitely holds a great measure of patience when it comes to most things in life. Either way, she'll not get directly involved in much unless she is called upon to do so.
When Morideth does act on her own, she has planned it out meticulously. She doesn't want any party involved in her plans to get hurt. If some person or their dragon does get hurt when she's acting out her plans, she's likely to be a "mother hen" and completely worry about them until they get better. Once they are better though, she'll likely give them a stern talking to about whatever it was they were doing before that got them hurt. Though she's plenty forgiving. No one can stay on her bad side for very long unless they actually tried to, and even then it would be difficult.
