Noraali liked to have these meetings regularly - at least once every sevenday, usually twice - to plan and to discuss the way things in the Weyr were going - including the Candidate Lessons, Weyrling Lessons, and other happenings around the Weyr. The council meetings were always important. Noraali wasn't sure how they had gotten things done and taken care of... or organized before. Certainly they had council meetings, but these which she made sure to have at the beginning and end of each week to check on the progress of things around the Weyr and to plan the next steps, she didn't think they had done these before. She wanted to be certain that the Weyr she was running was in tip top condition. From the highest wing to the storage caverns below them.

The Weyrwoman was still standing when Samara, the current Candidate Master arrived. The Brown rider was only going to be filling in temporarily as their previous Candidate Master had not elected to remain after the former Weyrwoman's death. One of the first things that Noraali had done was approach Samara about taking the position up once more. The woman had reluctantly agreed. She was good at her job. It was hard to tell how Samara felt about the Brown Rider who was her assistant. C'lior could be rather tough on the Candidates - in a different way than Samara was. It wasn't that the woman took it easy on them. But she certainly was kind while still being stern.

Noraali nodded. "Good Morning, Samara," Noraali said, giving her small, signature smile, her back straight as she stood, her hands behind her back. She required her juniors to attend all council meetings - they would doubtlessly learn something. She still had to find some way to keep D'tri on some sort of leash... he was quite the handful, but she tried.

Samara nodded. "'Morning Weyrwoman," the warrior said with an incline of her head. She didn't like having to take the time to go to these meetings, but she begrudgingly admitted that they were good for the Weyr and helped to reorganize things. If there was one thing to be said about the Weyrwoman, it was that she knew how to pull things together. That was something Trelis had sorely been in need up during, and dare she even think it, Iirla's time as Weyrwoman. The girl had been far too green to be a proper Weyrwoman and her gold had obviously not much cared for her position.

Noraali motioned for Samara to take a seat and waited for the others to arrive. She was expecting them to be on time.

They shouldn't dare to be late. Perfection is best when done in every way. That means being timely. Ehtyriath. The gold was often hung up on perfectionism. She had to be perfect. Noraali had to be perfect. Her Weyr had to be perfect.

Noraali gave a mental sigh. Hush now and go to sleep, my heart. They will come as soon as they can. You have already informed them, yes?

The queen snorted. But of course! I would not forget such a thing! Noraali controlled her smile, which threatened to grow at the queen's indignity.

I shall remind them. And before Noraali had a chance to think, the queen did just that. Serlanth, Majoriith, Chahaturth, Stallorth, come. It is time for the meeting. Mine wishes to discuss meetings, wing drills and the daily running of the Weyr. Also, if you don't mind, Chahaturth, have yours send his firelizard to fetch the headwoman. Thank you dearling. The queen resettled herself and a smug feelign rolled off of her.

Ehtryiath calls. She sounds as if she is in one of moods...again. I shall go to her soon, if I must.

Rikula knew that her dragon's voice was not meant to be posed as a statement though. The question was subtle, but for the young woman it was clear as day. Majoriith did not want to go to her better right now, or any of them. Chahaturth was not always welcoming, neither was the other Obsidian that the WeyrQueen had forgotten. She would call her soon enough though, they had few of the smaller clutchers, surely they could fit into the room as well. Stallorth was one she appreciated, as was the brown that she little of. In truth it was as much Majoriith's fault as the other dragons', she never bothered to talk much to them.

You mean you were too frightened to. The gold slunk down unhappily, her body tense and coiling around itself in her cave. Rikula spared the shy creature a brief look before shaking her head, doing the last buttons on her corset built vest, and walking out and down to the council chambers. Majoriith would deal with herself, she was sure of that if not anything else. Go Maj. If I have to deal with people, you have to deal with their dragons. You're a Queen, it's expected.

Grumbling, the dragoness rose to her feet, wings tight against her side until she shook them out so that she could glide down to the others. Hesitantly she landed, eying the dragons warily before taking a few steps forward. In the end she sat down and curled her tail over her feet, wings tucking in tightly once more as her head ducked down somewhat. They were all going to be watching her....why did they all have to be watching her?

Knocking on the door to let Noraali and Samara know she was there, Rikula dipped her head in greeting and took her normal seat. Her body was just as tense as her Queen's, but she was slightly more at ease. There was little to be worried about. There was no big circumstance, just little things. Swallowing, distancing herself from her dragoness as well to keep her own emotions away from the fearful ones of Majoriith, Riku tried to relax.

"Morning."

T’rian sighed and shook his head as he received the message from Stallorth. He had already been on his way to the council meeting when Ehtyriath called. He wouldn’t be late, but he wouldn’t be early, that much was certain. So why were they being called again? It wasn’t time for the meeting to start yet anyways. Oh well, nothing he could do about it except pick up the pace a little bit. He knocked politely on the door before entering the room.

Greetings Noraali, Rikula, and Samara. He greeted the two women as he took his seat, and waited for the meeting to begin. While Stallorth on the other hand stretched his large bronze wings before taking off to join Ehtyriath and the other dragons that would be at the meeting. Hello Ehtyriath, Majoriith, and Amiith. Lovely day isn’t it? Stallorth warbled a soft greeting to each of the dragons gathered there so far as he took a place that he hoped would leave enough room for the others that would decide to join them.

Chahaturth growled softly as she received the gold dragon’s message. I am NOT a messenger. Thankfully the Topaz had enough decorum to keep that thought between herself and her rider who just rolled his eyes at her. What is it Chaha? D’tri smiled lovingly as he walked over and scratched one of Chahaturth’s favorite spots. Ehtyriath wants me to have you send Skitter to fetch the headwoman, though why she couldn’t tell you that herself is beyond me. Chahaturth snorted as she spoke, doing her best to ignore how good D’tri’s scratching fingers felt.

She was just trying to be polite Chaha. Anyways, Skitter go bring the headwoman to the council room alright? He held his little green firelizard up and sent her a picture of the woman she was supposed to fetch before she popped between and was gone. Alright Chaha let’s go. He climbed up and took his usual seat on his dragon and held on tight as she took off from their Weyr and headed to the meeting. Chahaturth landed delicately and let her rider off before taking her spot among the other dragons. Greetings everyone. D’tri smiled and greeted everyone as he entered the meeting.

C'lior of Serlanth

She has called.[/i] If one didn't know better, they would think the brown was angry, or displeased at the Queen's order. It was not, however, the case. Serlanth was just unhappy. Withdrawn in a way that was rare for dragons, for on his own he would have forgotten Ealinor the hatchling, but for His. The blonde boy was in C'lior's thoughts constantly, even when he was sleeping and there was a loss so deep there that no one could even hope to match it. He'd failed his weyrmate, he'd failed his son and failed them twice over when he'd been unable to save Ealinor. Now, all he had was his work. Even stirring the stern man that much was hard, as Serlanth's voice cut across his mind, he looked up, eyes empty for a moment before he blinked it away.

"Well, we can't keep her waiting, now can we?" He rumbled softly, getting slowly to his feet and placing the soft toy Elyssa had sewn for their son on his bed. As he recalled, Ealinor had slept with the ratty brown dragon until the day he had been taken, it had been his gift from the mother he never knew-- but those were thoughts for another day. It was beyond C'lior to care what he looked like, brushing his hands through his hair to straighten it, and tossing a thick wher-hide jacket over his shirt so that he was back in full riding gear before motioning to Serlanth on the ledge. Never had the brown flown without his straps being checked and C'lior did just that. A firm tug there, a sharp tug in another place and it was set, they were heading for the entrance he needed.

"Weyrleaders." He grouched, bending his head in a very small gesture of respect before looking at the gold riders.
"What did you want?"

G'lwein sighed as he slid down from Sheogorath’s shoulder to the ground and stretched. Their weyr was empty. No brown on the ledge, no weyrmate in his bed waiting to welcome him back from another long, this time quite gory flight. This time had been too close for comfort. He was afraid he would have to keep a closer eye on the southern spies from now on.

“I am hungry G’lwein mine. I’m going to go taste some blood of my own…” The draconic chuckle that sounded in his mind was full of anticipation and violence. He would probably have a mess to clean up soon. The large garnet tended to play with his food for a bit, extending the pain and relishing the fear he unleashed on the poor wherries.

“Just try not to hit the humans this time will you? You caught that boy with your tail last time and his mother almost flayed me alive.”

It is only because you have a thing about hitting women mine. That’s a weakness that you should grow out of…

“I have nothing against hitting a woman. I have a thing about hitting innocents. Killing for the sake of killing… It’s unnecessary. And where would you be if there were no herders to raise your meals hmm?”

G’lwein lifted an eyebrow at his partner and the dragon grumbled, knowing he was right. Without another word, just a mental shove, he launched himself into the air again. After a few moments Sheogorath’s voice echoed in his mind.

"Don’t forget about the meetings my mate’s own keeps wanting to have. One was scheduled for today. I would suggest you clean up before you join them mine. That much blood would be hard to explain away."

G’lwein sighed and looked in the floor-length looking glass he had gotten for Samara’s last turn day. The dragon was right. His hair was plastered to his hair by dried blood, he had red streaks across his face where the wet blood had air-dried during the flight back and there was no way he would ever be able to wear those clothes again.

He stripped down and headed to a large basin in the corner of their room with a pitcher of water and proceeded to scrub until he looked fresh and unspoiled. There was the perfect boyish clean face that everyone in this weyr knew and trusted… for the most part. He grabbed a fresh pair of doe skin breeches, leather boots and a white shirt, threw them on and made his way to the council chamber.

He arrived right on C’lior’s heels and fixed one of his not so genuine smiles on his face.

“Now now C’lior. A little more polite respect for your queens wouldn’t kill you ya know. Whereas insult to a queen’s rider might do just that.”

He stepped around the sullen brown rider and gave a little salute to T’rian and D’tri. To be honest he liked the other two men, but he wondered sometimes if they ever suspected any of his less than desirable movements.

“Good morning my Queens.” He took the time to take the hand of Rikula and press a kiss to the air above her knuckles, and did the same for Noraali, then went to his weyrmate’s side, pulled her against him and kissed her soundly. Ordinarily there should be more propriety, but he’d been gone for a week and he missed her.

“Good morning my love.”

[Serah]

There wasn't really much to do at the moment. Ryiah had planned at least five lessons the previous night when she couldn't sleep. So she just sit in her weyr with Morideth when they saw some of the others moving outside. At first, she only saw the senior Queen, so she figured there was a meeting going on with the two Goldriders, so she let it go. Then she saw the others going.

Ryiah looked at Morideth, who was already getting up. Yes RyiahMine, we're going too. You want to know what's going on, don't you? The Obsidian told her rider. So Ryiah climbed onto her back and the two headed to where they saw the other dragons going. Morideth landed, and Ryiah slipped off her shoulder. "Hello there everyone. Did we miss much?" She asked as she entered the meeting.

[Seven]

Noraali smiled in greeting to Rikula. Good. she was on time. That boded well for her learning the importance of such things. Noraali straightened her back a little bit, moving to stand behind her chair, which she, supposed, would someday be Rikula's. "Good morning, Rikula," she said, her tone polite, though an edge of warmth broke through her smile.

Samara gave Rikula a nod. "Good morning, Jr. Weyrwoman," she said formally to Rikula. She seemed every inch formal... and formidable. The woman was always like that. An imposing figure - despite her stature. Many a man had underestimated and insulted her and many a man had been taught their error quite efficiently. Samara was always happy to give someone a swift kick if it meant teaching them something for their own good.

The next rider was T'rian shortly followed by D'tri. "Good morning, T'rian, thank you for joining us. D'tri it is good to see you," Noraali said, smiling, though it was hard for her not to let that smile grow just a bit more friendly. Samara inclined her head to the two men. Both were ranking riders. She respected them. But... she was more apt to speak and show a sign of deeper respect to someoen like Rikula than even Noraali. Though she had to admit, the woman was intelligent and had a good head on her shoulders. As well as a good mind for leading. The Weyr had begun to once more prosper under her leadership. Though her dragoness could use a little work. Now Mine... she is the Senior Queen. You really shouldn't think so much on it. Samara hid her frown wit ha slight yawn, covering her mouth. Just because you like her doesn't mean I have to. Remember. She is Sheogorath's mate and he doesn't like sharing. Her dragon rumbled in response. he wasn't afraid of his old friend.

It was good that Ehtyriath was not privy to this moment between rider and dragon as the queen would have been highly displeased at hte thoughts which passed between them.

Noraali frowned at C'lior's words. "It's time for our once a sevenday meeting, or have you forgotten you are required to attend those?" she asked, her tone perhaps a bit uppity and irritable. Samara covered a smile. She was no fan onf the man. "Take your seat," Noraali continued. As much as she was fond of the man.... she was certainly not happy to entertain such things as these.

Ah. And here was their Weyrleader. Finally. He had been gone far too long. Noraali saw Samara perk up at the sight of him and sighed. Of course there would be a total lack of propriety here. Like every time he came back from one of his trips. And that was just that. After kissing Rikula's and Noraali's hands, he went over and planted a very passionate kiss on his weyrmate in front of everyone. Admittedly... Noraali was somewhat jealous.

Samara grins as she sees Gl'wein, more than happy to wrap her arms around him and press into his kiss. "Good morning. Too bad we can't escape right now..." she whispers to him, though Noraali does here and clears her throat. By Faranth! What... what....

Ehtyriath grumbles. Let children be children, mine. She then turned her attention on her mate. Sheogorath, will you be joining me, darling? She gave a little croon to accompany her words.

Noraali looks up at the voice of Riyah and smiles. Now everyone was gathered. "Nothing as of yet. Let us begin." She took her seat and looked at everyone. "I think the first thing that we need to discuss, Gl'wein, is your long absences while we are in lack of a Weyrsecond. T'rian maybe excellent at looking over the wings, but as Weyrleader, it is your responsibility to do so. I need you here, where you can lead. I have no doubts that Samara would like you by her side more often as well." Her look was very pointed and direct. "Now, I'm not sure what all you have been doing, but as a diplomat, it seems you are doing quite well. I simply wonder why it must take a sevenday or two of you being away from her."

Ehtyriath snorted. Hers had a point. And it seemed everyone was gathered...

And all the dragons were now as well... well aside from Sheogorath who had gone to feed.

[Lark]

Everything was fine for Rikula up until the point that C'lior came in. Her eyes narrowed at the Weyrlingmaster, carefully watching every movement he made. If he thought his condition and life story could account for how he acted now, he had another thing coming. She would be all too happy to debate how badly their lives sucked and who had the right to sulk about it and snap at others. For now however they had other things to deal with, namely their missing in action excuse for a Weyrleader.

Her eyes changed from their slight narrowed look at C'lior to a full on death glare at G'lwein as Noraali addressed them both. "Or more importantly perhaps, what you have been doing over there. I've checked the tables and the charts Weyrleader, we have had no need as of late to contact Southern. Especially since they are not strictly friendly with us either. What could you possibly be needing to go there for that did not involve the attendance of one of the Weyr's Weyrwomen as well, or at the very least another Wingleader?" Her voice was terse and pointed, her body tensed despite knowing she couldn't exactly do anything here.

It was instinct for Rikula though. She was angry and ticked off, and as such her body was prepared for a fight. G'lwein had perhaps proven himself to Trelis before, but since he had become Weyrleader he had done little to prove himself a capable man for the position in her eyes. Perhaps in time, but more likely than naught Noraali's gold would choose a new mate before that was able to happen. Gold dragons did not always take forever mates, the ones that did were abnormal.

If I choose one...just one, would you think I am abnormal?

Rikula took a moment to entertain her dragoness' question, sending a gentle thought her way. Sweetheart, for a Queen, you're already abnormal. Majoriith paused for a moment before giving her consent to that statement. She was pretty odd for her color, but she did not mind that she was. It was how she was born and it was how she would always be, she had learned to accept that long ago. Just because you were born into one kind of being did not mean that you had to like it, or that you even had to like as you were expected to be.

[Thorn]

J'lan woke with a start when his seat was jerked from beneath him. Despite the many years of having this happen, he still yelped loudly when his chin slammed into the wood of his desk. Great. Another bruise. How am I going to explain it to the others, Granzth?

You have bigger problems, J'lan. The meeting has already begun. Granzth blinked at him, the lids of his eye snapping shut with a snik before opening again just as quickly.

J'lan stared back at him a moment, his bonded's words taking a moment to sink in. Suddenly, he was on his feet and diving for his closet, digging through the clothes for a presentable shirt that wasn't wrinkled. He quickly dragged it on and ran out of his living quarters, pulling on his boots as he went. Galen ran after him with his wherhide jacket, and he gave his son a quick, one-armed hug before leaving the boy where he stood.

He climbed onto Granzth as he pulled the jacket on, muttering to himself about not staying up late on paperwork again.

That is what you always say, J'lan. And yet it still happens every time. When are you going to start actually using that bed? Granzth asked, already heading for the entrance to their cave.

'That's not what matters now, Granzth. We're in trouble as it is!' J'lan grabbed hold of the scaled ridge in front of him just as the bronze dragon launched himself into the air, flaring his wings to catch the wind so they could drift round to the Queen's Weyr.

Granzth let him down on the ledge, and then went to join the other dragons, bugling a greeting to the Queens and other bronzes. He settled next to Majoriith, his eyes swirling his emotion. Please, forgive our lateness, my fellow dragons. My Rider was asleep at his desk again.

J'lan's sleeping habits, thanks to Granzth, was well known around the Weyr. The man sighed, and accepted the fact that he was likely about to get another scolding about it. With a rueful half-smile, he bowed to his leaders. 'Weyrwomen Noraali and Rikula, Weyrleader G'lwein, my sincerest apologies. Granzth had to wake me again.' He rubbed his jaw ruefully-it was already starting to swell from where he'd hit it on the edge of the desk, and if he was any judge-and he should be, after the amount of bruises he'd had on his face-this one was going to be particularly colorful.

A meeting has started, CrazyMine.

[/color] Saekath's voice was anything but pleased, and when Iro'ris heard his dragon, his normally happy personality turned sour. "We're going flying, then. Let's go." He knew he'd catch it from the Weyrwoman later, but he didn't care. Jumping onto Saekath's back without bothering with riding straps, the two took off into the sky and away from the Weyr.

N'tal knew he was going to be late. His hair looked like a rat's nest, and he hadn't shaved in days. His eyes were red-rimmed from lack of sleep, but this meeting was important. Shuffling a stack of papers into a manageable stack, he hurried out of his weyr and to the meeting room, where he burst in, tripped, and hurriedly straightened himself.

"My apologies, Weyrwoman. I had… records…" He panted, waving around the sheafs of papers. A few loose sheets fell to the floor.

"You really should be more organized, N'tal. You are a Wingleader after all," a curt voice cut in. "A man is disappointed in you." D'thor stepped into the room, blue eyes hard and angry. He stooped down and picked up N'tal's papers, handing them to the younger man with a shake of his head.

The Weyrlingmaster's own papers were neatly organized, and he didn't drop any as he took his seat. Then again, he was older, and had way more practice at keeping records than N'tal… but still. He shook his head again. "A man apologizes for being late, Weyrwoman. A man hopes for forgiveness." D'thor's odd turn of speech irritated some, but that was just how he was.

N'tal, blushing, took his own seat, trying to organize his papers better, to no avail. He didn't really have anything to say, anyway. Usually he just sat and listened at these sort of meetings. It was… better that way.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

[Zero]

Well he was late. Not that that was a first but K'ien wasn't normally the type to make a habit out of being late, and to the council meeting of all things! "Ohh, I'm late." Muttering under his breath the bronze rider scurried around his quarters, snapping up a file of records and tugging on his boots before taking off down the hall at a jog.
Are you planning on joining us today, Hyorinmarth?
He heard the bronze dragon rumble as he dozed out on his ledge.
If my Queens require my presence, they need only ask. Since they have not, you will tell me all that goes on when you return anyway.

Stopping just outside the doorway, K'ien paused to catch his breath before stepping inside the council chambers. A quick look around the room would only confirm his feelings of being late. Dammed lazy dragon! Why couldn't he have reminded him sooner? But for right now he swallowed his current frustration and annoyance at allowing himself to be late and took his customary position off to the side. "Good morning my Queens. Apologies for being late."
