Azahl grumbled. It was early and, despite how she made herself look every morning, her mood was decidedly sour in the mornings and this morning was no exception. She looked up at Meerly as the flitter tried to steal her sweet roll again and batted her. "Bug off you bug," she muttered to the firelizard. She loved the green dearly, but they really didn't get along a lot of the time. Meerly seemed to purposely push her buttons and try to rile her up and in return, Az reacted. Which just made it more fun for Meerly. When Az tried not to react, Meerly would keep on going until she finally got a rise out of someone - rather that is Azahl or someone else, it doesn't matter. It has always been ehr only form of fun.
And she was taking advantage of the Apprentice Healer's bad mood. Az wasn't paying the people around her much. She was focusing on her food and her firelizard. After all, the little trouble maker was jsut being a pest. She shoo-ed at the green again, sending her fluttering back only to come forward again and pluck at the food in Azahl's hand.
Azahl grabbed her cup of klah and took a quick sip of it, not daring to set her food on the table. IT didn't make for the pretty picture of grace and elegance that she wanted to. nor did it make for the idea she wanted to present - she was not ravenous or starving. Not in the least and that was what she looked like - like she was so hungry she would eat and drink with both hands. She hated that idea. It also lacked dignity and manner.s She lput the cup down and took another bite of her sweet roll.
Meerly gave an annoyed little squeak as she purposefully put the cup down in such a way as to push the firelizard away. She sighed and took another bite, chewing thoroughly and then swallowing.

M'ril was used to getting up early, and if he wasn't exactly a morning person--well, at least he wasn't as grouchy after waking up as some people he'd known. He was quick to grab a cup of klah when he went to get his breakfast. (As well as some breakfast for Rynoc; he'd found it was easier to feed pets the time he ate, since it tended to distract them from his own food.) He scanned the dining room and chose a mostly-empty table where a young woman sat with a green fire lizard, sitting far enough away to give her and her green some space, for M'ril wasn't exactly a people person, either.
Rynoc settled onto the seat beside him, briefly inspecting the green fire lizard, but the ebony made no move to approach her. Instead, he turned his attention to the bacon and eggs M'ril had set aside for him. M'ril started to eat, but something at the back of his mind made him pause, and then he had it. The woman--he didn't recognize her. That was somewhat unusual, as he'd been at Rindell Weyrhold for three turns, and he typically recognized its residents, if only by face and not name.
"So, um," he spoke up, despite his guardedness around strangers. "Have you been at Rindell very long?"

Azahl looked up as she heard a voice and she swallowed before speaking, looking at the man. He wasn't bad on the eyes, she supposed. Though it was a passive thought. The real thought that coiled around her mind was "how can I use you?" He was an interesting man, though his knots marked him as an amethyst rider. How could she use a green rider? She could think of one way, but she wasn't going to go with that. Whatever might happen or whatever the case, he was going to be useful in some way, she was certain.
She gave him a rather pretty smile that you could hardly tell was forced at all. But really, she did not want to be bothered.
"I have been around for a little less than a turn. I am a cnadidate and healer here. My name is Azahl. This little green monster is meerly."
((I apologize for shortness and suckiness.))

The woman looked up at him, and M'ril almost wanted to shiver at the way she stared at him. For a moment there seemed something calculated about her, but then she smiled prettily and the thought went out of M'ril's head. He relaxed again, curving his lips as she introduced herself and her fire lizard. He was a little surprised he'd never seemed to notice her before, but he tried not to let it show on his face.
"I'm M'ril; my dragon is amethyst Rahath," he replied, the part about his dragon all but automatic after four turns as a rider. He motioned to Rynoc, who was still munching on his meat and eyeing Azahl and Meerly with a slightly suspicious look. "And this here is Rynoc."
M'ril's head tilted to one side. "That's interesting; I'm a healer, too. Well, sort of; apprentice-level, at least. It kind of got neglected after I Impressed..." Of course, he'd had plenty of practice on simple injuries, humans and dragons both, since coming to Rindell, but he would be the first to admit his practical experience was rather limited.

Azahl watched him quietly. he seemed uncertain about her or a minute, but when she smiled he relaxed. That was good. making him nervous wouldn't help her in the least. the curve of his lips was nice, she suppose. As were his features. Too bad he was an amethyst rider and not a bronze or brown rider. Or perhaps garnet. That would have been a little more prestigious.
She took another sip of klah, Meerly suddenly distracted by the other flit who she scooted over to and cheeped at, wanting to take his meet, but also want his attention. She chirped and preened, trying to make herself look pretty and attractive. She wanted him to be interested in her. She spread her little green wings and cheeped again. Maybe if she was pretty enough he would just give her some of his meat.
Azahl grinned at her firelizard as she approached Rynoc. Azahl grinned. "iti is nice to meet you, M'ril. You'll have to introduce me to your lady some time." She looked at Rynoc. "And I think Meerly has taken a shine to your Rynoc." She blushed a little, and blinked. "Oh yes, before I forget, I am Azahl and this is my little lady Meerly." She introduced herself and ehr firelizard.
A fellow healer? And he didn't recognize ehr... well she didn't recognize him. "I am Apprentice level as well. I think it is because my bed side manner is rueful at best..." she said honestly, shaking her head. She was sure she was close to walking the tables, though. She simply had to be.

M'ril's gaze turned to the fire lizards. Azahl's green was cheeping at Rynoc and preening. She almost looked flirtatious. Rynoc stared back at her shyly, not moving from his spot beside M'ril. The black flitter gave a hesitant chirp of welcome, eyes whirling warily. He was a shy male, and he was easily intimidated, even by a green, but this one was at least acting friendly...Cautiously, he crept forward, closer to Meerly, and paused when they were face to face. He hesitated again, waiting to see what she would do.
M'ril looked up when Azahl spoke, and he blinked. "Uh--My lady?" His first thought was that she was asking about a weyrmate, which was strange, considering he didn't have one. Rahath's flights were one thing, but as for someone he was actually interested in... "I don't--"
I believe she was talking about me, M'ril, Rahath told him with a snort.
"--Oh." M'ril was sure he was blushing. "Sorry, Rahath just spoke up. I didn't realize she was listening." The second part was directed at the amethyst as much as it was the candidate. "She'd love to meet you sometime, too, I'm sure," he said.
I said nothing of the sort.
Ignoring his dragon, M'ril continued. "Anyway, it's nice to meet you and Meerly, Azahl." Her comment about her poor bedside manner made him give a half-smile. "Not a people person?" He asked. Well, that would be something else they had in common.
