Azahl
PB: Kat Dennings
Name: Azahl
Pronunciation: az-ALL
Age: 21 Turns
Season Born In: Winter
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Demisexual
Appearance:
Azahl always does her best to keep herself pretty and, as one might put it, professional. Appearance and presentation go hand in hand. She likes to think herself amongst the loveliest flowers of the Weyr. Her eyes are a very blueish hazel color while her hair is a dark brown with some uneven lighter parts to it. Her skin is distinctly olive-toned. She has her curves and she will take every opportunity she gets to flaunt them - which is not as often as she would like, what with how cold it is.
Az is very aware of the fact that she has what she would refer to as "seductive" lips - full and pink, though she will often chew on her lower lip, making it more of a red. She often accompanies this nervous habit with some sad round eyes to get some big hero to come to her aid. After all, she is a helpless damsel. Well. No. Not really. But she wants you to believe she is. She uses her small and relatively delicate stature to her advantage in such matters as well.
Although she sometimes hates dressing practically, it is something which is quite necessary, especially in this environment. Most commonly she can be seen in a black top, simple brown pants with a simple utilitarian jacket over top. She doesn't much care for how these items tend to hide her feminine figure, but she deals with it. Her hair is typically worn in one simple braid, but she is more than willing to let it down for parties, if you catch the meaning.
Personality:
With head held high and pride dripping off of her, you would be surprised to find even a shred of kindness or understanding in Azahl. She doesn't seem the healer type. she doesn't seem the kind you want as a friend. Possessed of rude tongue and vanity to spare, Az could make even the best nun swear in frustration from her seeming lack of ability to learn or grow out of the idea that she is always right, an attitude that belies the intelligence that she has proven to have. She can be quite cunning and cunniving and enjoys a good game of cat and mouse. Which role she is in all depends on which one is going to be more fun. Cat and mouse is easily her very favorite game and she will not stop from goading others into playing along and playing the part she wants them to, something which has routinely landed her in trouble since she was quite young.
She likes to have fun, but there is something cruel about that fun. She comes across as poised and graceful when really she is probably trying to mess with your mind and it is truly all an act. And that act is something else she enjoys. Her love of playing cat and mouse extends into any relationship she has - though typically, she wants the other person to chase her. She is primarily not interested in sexual relationships, but she will enter one with someone of either gender based on, quite simply, how well she knows them and how much they are willing ot invest into chasing her and trying to win her. But at the same time, she likes to string people along and have them at her beck and call.
Azahl loves to toy with people - including their emotions and even more so when she is drunk, an activity she likes to partake in whenever she is allowed. When she is drunk, Az can be incredibly clingy and has woken up more than a few times in strange beds that she isn't quite sure how she got there in the first place, but she will always be prompt in leaving. She doesn't much care for the casual sexual experience, and so, will often be quite cross with herself for some time, telling herself she will not get drunk again, which of course, it happens again. She has this habit - a self destructive one - that she just can't seem to get over.
Azahl doesn't have the a healer's heart, often being just as brusque to her patients as she is to anyone else. Her bed side manner is positively horrible. However, when it coems to an injured animaly, she is all compassion, gentleness and care. The animals of the world have far less control over what humans do to them than stupid people doing stupid things and getting hurt. Plus, animals are easier to deal with and, in her opinion, are often far more thankful. Human beings tend to feel entitled. Except for, perhaps, children. But they can be such brats as well. Whining and crying really don't go over well with Az and she lets you know it. She can be brusque, blunt, and just plain rude. Thoug hit isn't limited to any one group of people - she's that way with everyone and isn't very good about watch her tongue around her superiors, which is probably why, even now, she has yet to walk the tables, a fact which bothers her deeply.
One of her biggest pet peeves of all is having the fact she is still an apprentice brought up. She knows it - all too well. In fact, the way reason she came back to try to Impress was becasue she didn't walk the tables at the age of eighteen as planned.
She is a tranquil pool of water in appearance until something hits her... and then her temper ripples out to tear through her words, her looks, the set of her jaw, and the fire in her eyes. Azahl is an easily angered individual with a slow to cool temperature. However, this trait combines with a cunning mind to create an all new kind of trouble. She will do her best to find a way to punish the offender - not just with words or looks. She holds grudges like no other and will hold onto them until she feels that the person has finally gotten the payback they deserve. She can't stand to be the brunt of anyone's jokes nor can she stand to be the target of anyone's disdain. After all, why should she be. She is beautiful and graceful and perfect, right? That would be her pride and vanity talking, making her hold her head up high and keep her poise and grace as perfect as possible.
Az is a perfectionist. Especially in her appearance. She can be found spending a lot of time looking into a mirror or trying to perfect her appearance. Azahl will also practice schooling her expressions in the mirror - everything from what she feels is sultry to what she feels is the most horrifc and angry expression she can manage. After all, what good is an appearance if you don't know how to use it to effect a feeling. Effecting a feeling in others is very important. It can be a key to power.

History:
Twenty-One Turns ago, a young girl was born into the arms of a harsh world. She knew a sickness in her hold when she was young which claimed her father. Everyone so close it had always been disgusting. Disgusting and causing disease to spread so much more easily. She was a baby when her father became ill and died. She had been in the care of her mother. The woman was half crazed from the very first moments that the young girl could remember, even as the sickness left the Northern Continent
"Momma... you will be okay... You won't leave me. I know you won't," a whisper in the night. The young girl held her mother's hand, her loose hair falling down around her face. She lay her head on her mother's lap and looked up at the woman. She was usually crying or staring somewhere. Except in such rare moments of these when she would sing a soft Harper's song as if it would give her hope and strength. Then she would put her baby to bed.
"I'm not going anywhere darling. It's time for bed." The smile seemed so real and genuine. Her dark hair was so similar to Azahl's. Azahl wondered if she would be a beauty like her mother some day. "Night, Night, Momma," the girl murmured as she was placed in her bed in the creche. She never stayed with her mother at night anymore. Her mother had moved her down here some time ago. The girl didn't understand why, but she had learned over time not to press for answers because she never got any.
Late that night she woke up to the sound of shouting. She stood and raced in that direction - knowing someone was in trouble. What she came to see was her mother with the knife raised high standing in front some of the others. "Shut up!" Az stared at her. "You won't make it stop! It won't stop! Let me go!" she wrenched away from the man who grabbed his arm and plunged the knife into her own heart. She was dead before they got her to the infirmary. Az stood there, staring at the spot that they had just taken her mother from. Someone - a man - picked up the young five turn old and carried her back to the creche, murmuring soothing words and trying to comfort her the whole way... but Az didn't understand what she had seen - other than it was horrible.
She was convinced her mother was coward, even that young. she wouldn't be a coward. She wouldn't break her promises. She was determined that there had to be others she could trust. And there were, but it turned out that they weren't people. It was just that simple. Her next betrayal came at the hands of one of her former teachers. A man she should have been able to trust but who proved just the opposite to be true.
She held the pot with the sands in them and the two eggs close to her. The thirteen-turn-old didn't want to lose either one of these precious eggs. She had worked so hard for them. she had done every job she could think of to get them - even some of the ones she found despicably nasty, such as cleaning out the stables. She knew who she would ask to watch over them by his fire. Her teacher was surely going to do it for her. She entered the infirmary and smiled to her fellow apprentices, going up to the man. If she had thought twice, perhaps she would have realized just how poor this idea truly was, but she asked anyways. "Certainly, but are you sure you want to put them here?" "Yes. They will be warmer by this fire than in my room."
She trusted him with the two things that she treasured most now - she had not made the connections so many of the others had and she had hoped these two small eggs might grant her a reprieve from her loneliness. The girl simply couldn't shake her past. every time she looked at someone she saw them looking at her as if she was tainted. Even if they weren't. She couldn't stand it. She had seen the firelizards and the dogs and felines.... and they all seemed quite wonderful. These would be her new family.
When she came later to see the young eggs, she found her teacher had taken or hid one, or so she had thought. She didn't know the truth, but she accused him anyways. The encounter did not end well.
"You took one! How could you!" He frowned. "Now dear, I wouldn't do that... Perhpas one of the oth-" She screeched her anger then. "I trusted you to protect them!" She whirled in a flurry of hair and eyes alight with fire on her heels and took the pot and the lone egg back up to her room. If it wasn't him, than why didn't they take the other egg? She was quiet. She would have to go to learn under him tomorrow. What then?
It seemed her teacher had similar thoughts as he had the girl worth with another sr. journeyman the very next day rather than with him. She didn't care. She preferred it that way. It was not long after that the egg hatched into a lovely little green she called "Meerly". Because she was, indeed, but a mere green. The girl had always had ambitions and visions of grandeur and the firelizard simply did not align with them. But, she loved the little creature anyways. She was beautiful and she certainly had the attitude of a queen. And that was when the idea first rooted itself in Azahl's mind. She would be a queen rider. Or a ranking rider at the least.
But as time dragged on, she still studied her craft, deciding that if she should not be able to get that dragon she so desired, she would settle for Mastering this craft... if only barely. she wanted to be so much more important. She wanted people to command.
When Azahl was fifteen she was searched to a Northern Weyr, where she stood for the first time and was passed by. During this time, she also had a boyfriend, which was quite the shock to everyone. But, as it would turn out. She simply enjoyed his attention. It was not as if she was unused to attention, but he entertained her. He entertained her and she made up fantasies of love and romance for him. It was easy. Like breathing. she found she enjoyed it. But, of course, when she was just starting to develop some sort of real feeling, she would find him kissing another girl behind a tarp that was pulled closed. She left him there. Let him do as he will. And did her best to forget about him. But, of course, her anger burned brightly. The very next day, the day before she would stand on the sands for the first time, she walked right up to him and hit him across the face.
Falling back as he slapped her in return, Az gave a scream of fury, shoving herself up and going at him again only to be held back by a firm arm. "What seems to be the problem." The boy answered. "I am not sure. She just went crazy!" Az spit at him. "No! He cheated!" The man shook his head. "This is no time for games. Get going and leave each other alone or there will be a punishment for the both of ye." Az didn't abide the man's words and struck out again. She was grabbed. "Mayhap there will be punishment for you now." The man was so calm, but that only annoyed a struggling Azahl further. She was indeed punished, though she still stood the next day.... and did not Impress.
She couldn't trust him. She couldn't trust any of them. The herd beasts were gentle enough, though they were far from pets and rather food. It was cold working out there. But she didn't mind. She almost enjoyed it then as the weeks dragged by. She was released and she went back to her regular duties alone, which still left her little free time. Being a Healer's Apprentice was not the easiest task in the world. She found her task daunting with each injury and fatality that came by her. She hurt, but she soon stopped connecting with the patients all together. Her defense was made of iron. By the time she was eighteen, she had lost any form of bed side manner she had had as a child and had become quite cynical and difficult to get along with. Azahl as we know today was born.
No event save one would shake her - and it was quite recent. She was twenty turns when they came through. She didn't didn't and doesn't trust them - these future riders. She would go so far as to refuse to treat them if she could, but that would only further slow her progress as a Healer. And as it were, she already despises being an apprentice for so long. But she can't complain too much about that, though she silently seethes, still awaiting that golden dragon which will be hers. But of course she feels she is destined for greatness. She is better than the others, right? Or that is what she would have you believe.
Azahl has elected to go on to Rindell Weyrhold where she will take up her candidacy there as well as continue to study as an Apprentice Healer. It is her last turn of being a Candidate, and she has all but given up hope of Impressing, though, if she doesn't, she wouldn't mind becoming the female consult.
Meerly
Name: Meerly
Pronunciation: merely
Age: 7 Turns
Type: firelizard
Rank: Green
Size: 18.25 in
Color Codes:
32621d
Appearance/Personality:
APPEARANCE
Meerly is a rather small green firelizard. Her base color is a rather dingy over all and does not have much that is eye catching. But her markings are about as big and bold as her attitude - deep blue green for her under belling and lines across her legs with bright neon green on her back wings. Her face wears a mask of both. She is truly a dainty creature with long, slender limbs, and a fine head which has each ridge and plain distinctly defined. Her neck is always held proudly and arched while her wings are typically neatly folded at her sides, her tail wrapped around her paws. Her expression is almost always distinctly bored looking, almost as if the world does not interest her in the least.
PERSONALITY
Meerly is most definitely a green, but that doesn't mean she has to believe it. As far as she is concerned, she rules the roost. she is a gold in green hide and she will let you know it. She demands attention in her manner, her series of chirps and her more persistent dive bombing of heads - yes, that's right - she will dive bomb you if you don't give her attention. She is one glory hound of a flitt as well, always taking credit for the littlest things - like finding the lost shiny thing that Hers was looking for when really it was Az who found it to begin with.
She is a very feisty green when she gets into one of her moods, but when she is out with Az, she mostly just seems bored... so long as they are moving. The moment that they stop, the nearest person is her target. And once she has their attention, she will be bored again. This firelizard loves to chase down moving targets - children being interesting ones and fun to play with. She is not afraid of much of anything.
