Laila shook her head disparagingly at the candidates who strolled in late. Everyone knew you didn't waste time sitting around when a Hatching was announced. The hatchlings weren't going to wait around for their riders to show up forever.
No new eggs had cracked their shells yet, but the dragons already hatched had started to look over the candidates, particularly the garnet and topaz. Laila hung back, trying to avoid the garnet's gaze, but it wasn't like he was interested in her anyway. He was picking through the boys, and before much longer, he appeared to have found his match. Laila winced as the garnet sunk his fangs into Joskull's arm. Was that really necessary?
The blue seemed to be getting himself worked up again, and she strangled a gasp when he leapt for his sister--fortunately, the larger female managed to dodge him without apparent effort. She largely ignored her brother, and instead focused her attention on the candidates. Laila began to clap politely for Kariss when it seemed like the hatchling had made her choice, but she faltered when the red-orange dragon latched her jaws onto the woman's arm, much the same way her brother before her had. She had thought, like many others apparently, that the female was a topaz...but apparently not? She didn't even know female garnets were possible! Well, she thought pragmatically, at least it wasn't her dragon. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on in this Hatching, but she sincerely hoped that not all of the dragons would be like the ones who had hatched so far.

Oh look at that, the wee purple blue had been trying to make a show of looking so proper. Bahari rolled his eyes a bit, looking briefly amongst the other candidates in that slice of time and my oh my weren't the whole lot of them fixated on that supposed topaz that was out on the sands--or, plenty of the girls seemed to be doing so. Honestly, hadn't so many of them piped up claiming color of the hide wasn't important at all in that candidate lesson that while ago? He'd think that just maybe they'd try to stick through with that nonsense, ah, well at least their true motives were finally coming to light. Bahari was still hoping for something relatively intelligent, thank you.
And, okay, hopefully not garnet.
His bright eyes swung back when that garnet moved closer, and oh there was a sudden knot in his throat when the little beast curled around his brother. Joskull was the stronger built of the two, but damned, the starcrafter wasn't going to allow his brother to be devoured in front of him. He had the stones to deal with a garnet wher before, if he needed to-- His eyes widened when the dragon took his brother's arm in it's mouth, and for a second Baha had lifted a hand, nearly placing it on his brother's shoulder before he heard his brother speak out a name.
"Oh." Bahari retracted his hand, eyes briefly flickering between the newly formed rider and dragon. Oh indeed. Joskull had a garnet firelizard, could his brother only attract creatures of the red variety? A bit of an exasperated smile was on his face, and he looked a bit incredulous when his sibling turned around to grab onto his wrist. The first expression to filter over the starcrafter's features was a sudden overwhelming disappointment and disgust. "Oh come on, you really had to use the bloody hand didn't y--" Bahari stopped mid word, meeting Joskull's gaze as his brother seemed intent on delivering him a stern warning. The crafter's gaze melted back into something calm and composed, and he gave the barest of nods to Joskull.
That moment of severity in that initial response was something that meant Bahari did take those words seriously. A moment later there was another one of those pleased, sassy smiles that fitted so well across those lips. "Jos, I'm so flattered you think I'm pretty. Go deal with your little monster I'll make sure my face stays perfectly intact." He batted his eyes at his brother, even snickering a bit then before returning the pat. "Oh, and stop bleeding everywhere, get a hold on that."
Brotherly love at it's finest.
When Joskull moved away with his dragon Bahari was left to process what had happened. His brother had Impressed, right away, first of the whole batch and he had done so to a garnet. The starcrafter sucked in a deep breath, releasing in a slow exhale as he looked back out on the sands. Apparently he missed some spectacle because the purple blue was sprawled on the ground and the Priestess dragon was already making her Impression easily enough, which left that embarrassing blue out there and the pint sized brown. Interesting. Now and then Baha couldn't help but glance over, vision fixing on his brother and oh, was that a touch of pride swelling in Bahari's chest?
He did so much appreciate his family, and the fact that it was his sibling Impressing a garnet? Well shards, he could be plenty proud of that.
Although he was not proud of that blood around his wrist now. Bahari's lips pulled together in a slight frown, and for a moment his attention out on the sands was interrupted by him taking the time to clean off his skin with the inside of the robe's sleeve. Ugh. Really he did not need to have his brother's blood all over him, he needed to get something wet because it was just not coming off on it's own. A small snort was given before the brunet went back to watching and doing his best to keep himself intact.

Gaius watched the four hatchlings carefully as more candidates seemed to pour in around him. It mattered little to him though, he was too focused to take notice of who was standing next to him anymore as everyone shifted and scurried about. His eyes were dragged from the little brown back to the garnet as the young male started pushing his way deeper into the throng of male candidates. A sniff here, a hiss and a growl there. The large, blood red hide even passed him by, and for a fleeting moment, Gaius thought that he would finally be paired with his garnet. But of course it wasn't meant to be and he watched with a twinge of jealously, as the garnet latched on, and Impressed to, another boy a few candidates down from where Gaius stood.
The first Impression had been made, and it wasn't the blue after all. He was so wrapped up in the garnets impression that he hardly noticed an impression being made in the group of girls. The red dragon that had hatched from the priestess egg had bit one of the girls, impressing in quite the same way as the garnet did just moments earlier. Odd. Had that dragon been another garnet all along? Gaius shrugged the thought aside, there would be time enough for questions and answers later, and looked back to the blue, the brown, and the rest of the eggs yet to hatch. His gaze wandered over the shells that he had managed to touch the previous day and quietly wondered what sort of hatchlings would come of them. [/font]

Malta was, like many, most interested in watching the Garnet, though her reasons were likely different from those around her. She had absolutely no prejudice against the color -indeed, she found them rather intriguing- but he had been injured, and she itched to do something about it. When the dragon finally made a decisive move, she was surprised to recognize Joskull. Her partner had been the first to Impress; wasn't that some sort of good sign? Her mouth quirked up in a smile as they walked off. She didn't doubt that Joskull would make a good match to the Garnet, but then again, she remembered he had a particularly ill-mannered firelizard of the same variety. Hopefully he'd be able to exert rather more control over his dragon than he did his 'lizard; the dragon was significantly larger. She glanced at Bahari, curious how he'd take his brother's Impression, but he seemed genuinely happy for Joskull, to his credit.
Malta's dark eyes returned to the remaining hatchlings, just in time to see the Topaz female choose Kariss, a girl she knew nothing about. There was no twinge of jealousy as she clapped again; somehow, she doubted the Topaz would have considered her. She was not Queenrider material, in her own opinion, but she hoped Kariss would prove to be. Dragons rarely chose wrongly, from what she knew of them, so even a person unsuited might become suited in time; she wondered how Kariss's daughter felt about her mother's Impression, and what would become of the girl. Weyrlings were unlikely to have time for both a child and a dragonet. Still, Kariss wasn't likely to regret being chosen by the little queenling. It was odd that the dragonet had blooded her chosen, like a Garnet did, but Garnets were male dragons. Malta found it more likely she was a very red sort of Topaz than a strange, female sport.
The Blue remained, oddly dramatic even as he did nothing more than stand there. She largely ignored him, trading her attention between the very small Brown and the rest of the rocking Eggs. None had broken shell in some time, but there was a building sense of anticipation. The Hatching had only just begun, after all.

Great, just great. Here he was minding his own shardin' business like the perfect and handsome brown he was, and his sibling was suddenly deciding to be a jerk....figured.
Head lifting to look at The Boy-King blue, The Imp brown sneered a clever little grin. What did you want oh great king? Were your loyal peasants forgetting you already? Did you not hear them thinking, whispering, about how wonderfully dull you were? Snorting, the brown flicked his tail before curling up on himself.
The blue meanwhile was taking none of this well at all...AT. ALL! How was it that his subjects just ignored him? How did they think he was miserable and helpless? He was a king, a King! They were all dim glow idiots! They all needed to be taught to not laugh at him, to not think him weak. He was strong, he was the strongest and best of them all! Not a King...ha! He would show them what a true male was. Forget those garnet heathens, they were savages, only brutes with no mind at all!
Racing through the candidates, the blue darted in and out of the boys and girls, swiping as he went with jaws and claws and tail and wing spurs. He got caught as often as he harmed another, and by the end he was panting heavily and shrieking all the while. Eyes burned a red sort of hatred as he straightened and then stood the candidates down, screaming at them all.
LOOK AT ME!
It was the wordless scream that he kept letting go, his jaws open and baring sharp fangs, eyes whirling a bright scarlet mixed with yellow and orange, stance open and tail lashing out behind him. If a dragon could have rolled its eyes, The Imp would have. Did his sibling really have to be such an ash-snuffing dimglow?
Such a good way you have with your subjects, showing them what a fearless leader you are. Why, the Garnets didn't even shed as much blood as you have...idiot.
Turning blazing eyes on his smaller brother (and oh yes the blue was larger than the brown) The Boy-King stalked over to The Imp who sighed and shuffled to his short legs. Now what? Growling, the blue shot a few insignificant curses The Imp's way and the brown only snorted and rustled its wings before cuffing his larger sibling with a well-placed paw across its nearest headknob.
Whining, the blue backed off leaving the brown to freeze stiffly at a steady snarl from behind. The Queen had started to hatch sensing the unease between its siblings, and wasn't that just a problem waiting to be dealt with. Breaking off from its pale shell, the dragonet inside pressed through the opening it had created, a bright gold color coming from inside. Was it really gold though? Or was it somewhat green? The Imp couldn't really tell, nor did it honestly care.
The Boy-King however, oh he cared. Slinking over to the newly hatched dragonet, the blue nosed the yellow-green hatchling carefully. Almost motherly The Queen nuzzled him back, crooning gentle things to him before snarling a snapped head back at The Imp. How dare he hurt the king's feelings?!? How dare he try and make a fool of him?!? The Imp was a pest, a bug to be stepped on. When the tiny brown simply snorted at his sister, joking with her, the yellow-green strode forward confidently before whacking him viciously across the muzzle with a well-aimed blow of her paw.
Do not patronize her imp, The Queen was not someone to be messed with. Licking the ichor from her foot to clean it of the act, she shuffled off to nose The Boy-King toward the candidates, chortling and crooning at him as he snorted back. The Imp was left to stare at them, ichor dripping from his mutilated muzzle. Part of it was gone, forever meant to scar. He was so done with this. Time to get some food and then find some females to cuddle with thankyouverymuch.
Marching over to the candidate he had picked out from the start, the brown flopped unhappily in front of the human before looking up at the boy with a look that clearly stated you should have seen this coming.
Speaking of those sorts of interesting things, I do think my sister could use a good roll in the skies don't you? Her mood right now is no better than what comes out of the end of a tail-fork; namely, shitty.
Heaving a sigh, the brown nudged the newly impressed candidate before yawning.
Ageashakth; big name, little body. All the better to fool my “betters” with though. Besides, it’s what you do with it that counts, right Bahari?
TYRION BROWN-BAHARI "Pulp" Name: Ageashakth Based on: Tyrion Lannister Color: Brown Hex Codes: db7134, 544136, 968478Size: 23 feet Personality: Ageashakth may be tiny, and he may not be what one would think of when the word “Sub-King” comes up, but he makes up for it in personality. Quirky, humorous, and a downright jokester, the brown is not afraid to put himself, and others, at the brunt of his jests and pestering. All in all though, this little guy is smart. Never underestimate him, if only because Ageashakth will be two steps ahead of everyone around him. He knows things, and his rider may not always understand how he comes across information, but he tends to figure out just who to ask to figure out what. This paired with his intelligence is as dangerous a weapon as any Garnet’s talons; and that is the weapon of his choice, his mind. He can be very blunt, even casual, in his day-to-day conversation, and there really is no filter from mind to mouth. The brown speaks his mind, and he says it in the most simplistic, and yet at times, eloquent of fashions. He won’t be one to beat around the bush when it comes to the most improper of topics though, and the only time he will play with those around him with his mind and jests is when he is trying to prod and get information or prove a point. The one thing that Ageashakth may be known for, from a personality stand point at least, is that he is kind and gentle to females. They are to be protected and to be served in the best of ways, no less…perhaps a bit more.

The Eggs showed no signs of activity to speak of, and Malta could make nothing of the actions of the two dragonets. It seemed they were speaking to each other -certainly, the Brown had been looking at the Blue- but she as she couldn't hear their conversation, she had no real idea what to expect.
What she hadn't expected, however, was for the Blue to go flailing towards the Candidates, very clearly intending to injure. As he barreled past, she did what she could to stay out of his reach, but a wing spur caught her a glancing blow across her hip, slicing neatly through her robes and into the skin beneath. Her lips drew back from her teeth in a quick hiss of pain; it was nothing serious, but it did sting. She matter-of-factly applied pressure, watching the Blue with narrowed eyes for any signs of returning. His childish demand that they pay him attention was met with nothing but scorn, at least from her. If she hadn't worried he'd come through for another try at hurting someone, she'd have ignored him altogether.
He seemed to have turned his attention to his Brown brother, who popped him neatly on the head with a paw, but a low growl warned of another player entering the stage. The Queen, an Egg right between gold and green, was breaking shell, but her hide color was as ambiguous as her Egg had been. Malta couldn't tell if she were Gold or Green, but guessed the latter was more likely. Either way, she seemed to favor her Blue brother over her Brown one, earning her no affection from Malta.
The Gold/Green dragonet struck the Brown sharply across his muzzle, her claws pulling a piece away with them. He simply stood, handling it far better than his Blue brother might have, before walking directly to Bahari. Ichor was still pulsing sluggishly from his face, but he was a handsome beast, despite his small stature, and Malta's congratulatory clapping was whole-hearted. Perhaps she knew very little of the Brown, but what she had seen, she had liked, and she had a feeling they were a good match.
Her eyes went back to the Eggs, wondering what drama would take place next. She paid the Blue and his mysterious consort no mind at all; neither of them would be for her, or she was very mistaken about herself.

Well, that was all very interesting. A Sub-Queen Garnet? No thank you. Lucian was glad he had avoided Impressing to either of the Garnets, thank you very much. The antics of the purple-blue and the tiny brown were amusing, but the blue was too vicious for Lucian's liking, and the brown seemed a little too stuck up for his own good.
When The Queen hatched, and a green emerged, Lucian watched with interest. She seemed almost motherly to the blue, which was rather intriguing. He wasn't sure he liked that dragon much, either. Was his dragon even here? So far all of the dragons seemed to be violent in some shape or form. He just wanted a nice normal dragon. Was that so hard to ask for?

If Koroniket was paying attention, he might have been pleased by the sight of the tiny brown choosing someone else. But he wasn't. Okay, that wasn't fair. It wasn't that he wasn't paying attention; it was that the sharding blue had slashed him down during his little tantrum. Koroniket had fallen to the sands with a yell as claws tore through skin and muscle on his left thigh. "Sharding stupid blue." The words came out in a rush between clenched teeth. Okay, so swearing on the sands wasn't very kingly of him, but he was bleeding. And to add insult to literal injury, he wasn't bleeding because of a sharding garnet, but because of that blue. The blue which had lied to him, getting his hopes up about having found his bronze.
If he'd stopped a second longer, he might not have done what he did next. As it was, he grabbed the klah mug he'd dropped and threw it as hard as he could at the blue's head. "Go find your damn rider, you moron, and stop crying about nothing." There was a lot of venom in his tone, but more than that, there was a lot of pain. Pressing his hands to his bleeding thigh, he looked around. "And can someone bring me some bandages or something?" This was louder, calling for a healer instead of just muttering angrily at a hatchling.

Oh no, what was that blue up to now? He sure was causing quite a ruckus. Gaius pulled a face as the boy-prince blue let out one ear splitting scream after another. Really was all that necessary? What was all the commotion over anyways? Was he injured? Slowly dying of an unseen internal injury? Because really that was the only reasonable explanation the candidate could come up with. Or did he just have that shallow a personality that he was just going to continue to cry and stomp around till he got his way…whatever that may be.
Gaius wasn’t able to dwell on what that could be for long, however, as the little blue suddenly took off into the crowd of candidates. Barreling through the both the boys and the girls, the blue was on a mission to maim. Unfortunately, though Gaius tried to hop out of the way in time a clumsily claw got caught in his candidate robes and sliced through his forearm, he winced and swore under his breath. The white cloth slowly started to turn crimson as blood seeped from the wound. “Bratty little thing…” The dark haired man muttered under his breath and looked up just in time to see another egg hatch. Another shell he didn’t have the chance to touch earlier and this one seemed to coo and comfort the raging blue. It was about time someone put that hatchling in its place.
In all the commotion he nearly missed the brown shuffling over to the boys and flopping down at one of the candidates feet. Another Impression made. Gaius forced up a small, congratulatory smile and nodded to the new pair as they made their way off the sands and to the feeding pens. Gaius exhaled heavily, a weary sigh, as he ran a hand through his hair. Well at least no one could complain about a quiet and boring hatching.

Kariss was a little preoccupied, what with the healer bandaging her arm and the baby dragon demanding food, but she was still paying some attention to the others on the sands. That blue, in particular, was somewhat concerning and strange. She couldn't tell what he was making such a fuss about. As Joskull approached the feeding area, she was distracted from the other hatchlings for a bit, turning to him. "Hey, congratulations! Did you.... Well, did he tell you anything about the attack? Does he know who hurt him?" She assumed Joskull had been filled in on the pre-summons events as she had been.
The hatching of the queen egg had her attention for a moment, and Kariss turned to look as the dragon of questionable color emerged. To Kariss' surprise, her first action was to attack her brown brother, dealing him a fair bit of damage. "What the hell? What is with this clutch? She just attacked him!"
Yes, well... Nalsulath didn't continue the thought, nor did she sound overly concerned. She just gave Kariss a cool glance, dropping her eyes to the bowl of meat and then returning them to her rider's face when Kariss didn't get the message.
"Oh right." Kariss grabbed another piece of meat and held it out to her bonded as she tore her gaze away from the bloody events of the hatching and turned her attention back to Joskull. "But yeah uh... Any idea what that was about? The knife incident, I mean?"

With the pair of garnets Impressed, Laila's eyes had turned back to the blue and the brown, who seemed to be holding a conversation between the two of them. All of a sudden, the blue was screaming in anger again, and before the candidates could get out of the way, he was rushing through their midst, clawing and screaming at them the entire time.
Laila was as startled as anyone else, and she caught a lash of the blue's tail on her cheek, drawing a tiny bit of blood from a shallow cut. That was the extent of the damage she received from the hatchling; one of the other candidates were not so lucky, however, and was bowled over by the angry hatchling--standing right behind the unlucky candidate, Laila went down as well. Shards, the sands were hot! She could feel them near-burning her skin even through her robes as she lay sprawled in the sand, but it was worse on her hands as she pushed herself back up. She hissed in pain. Well, that had not been pleasant. Would the silly creature please just Impress already so he would settle down?
By the time she was ready to pay attention to the Hatching again, the abnormally small brown had Impressed, and a striking yellow-green dragon had hatched as well--she was apparently trying to comfort the blue. It was about time somebody did. Laila sighed in exasperation, wiping her blood-stained cheek on her sleeve. She was past caring about the ruddy stain she left on the white fabric.

Finally Mleynn quit fidgeting with his sleeves to see both the Garnet and the very red topaz- no the Garnet sub-QUEEN! It was strange to see such a beautiful deadly creature, right? But surely the lovely, Priestess would be a less blood lusting ruler?
AAAH! Something purple and blue tore past him, leaving a slit in the white robe. Pity, the cut doesn't shorten the length... Mleynn blinked hard and for a long time. Did the blue just run through? He wasn't sure, it went too fast.
Soon came a green dragon, and the brown impressed. Mleynn was glad for each new pair the bondings resulted in. He dreamily hoped His was out amoung those wobbling eggs that remained. Meanwhile, he watched the yellow-green dragon, and also the eggs. The Jester had said he was fun, even if he wasn't all that bright. That was just like something Emeliynn would agree on, and again the rainbow dappled egg made him think of his sister.. Was it weird to be drawn the the vivid colors? Mleynn wished he could touch the Jester egg again. But Mleynn had enough glows in his head to know that between the Gold mother and the other babies, going toward the eggs was suicide...

Oh. Oh well that was a spectacle. Bahari was still trying to calmly rub off his brother's blood from his wrist and hand onto the edge of his shirt when that purplish looking blue got all high and mighty and thought it best to start making a ruckus of it all--because clearly the best way to get any attention was to make a wreck of things. Unlike what seemed to be a majority of the candidates, Bahari was paying attention, and then that furious blue started barreling through the cluster of candidates Baha did his best to sidestep out of range of the hatching. Moving was a good way to get out of the line of something dangerous, and not moving backwards or forwards, but rather to the side aided in getting away from something on a direct and obvious path.
Well, at least Bahari thought it pretty obvious.
The starcrafter raised an eyebrow, watching the blue as it screamed to end it's massive, and quite impressive, temper tantrum. Clearly something else had caught it's attention, for the dragon seemed intent on stalking right over to that teeny brown to give it a piece of it's mind. Oh what Bahari wo9uld give to be able to hear that amusing banter between the two. The brunet smirked, and that smile cracked into a sardonic sort of grin when--oh shells, that small brown had cuffed the blue in reprimand. This was quite a sharding show.
So far it was just that, a show. Clearly things turned down a different sort of route when the next dragon broke free, out of the Queen egg--another Bahari had touched. For a moment he was entirely let down by the fact it seemed to sympathize with the braggart blue and keep it company, and oh that turned into a bit of shock when that greenish-gold hatchling went and hit the brown. It was not a cuffing, clearly unlike the blow that had been delivered before. There were claws involved and what looked to be a pretty impressive injury on the brown. Well well, the stereotype about garnets being the only violent ones was entirely being shown up by both the blue-purple and green-gold hatchlings out there.
Bahari for a moment lingered on that image, of the two dragons seemingly content in each others' company, before common sense made him turn his vision back onto the brown that was moving towards the group of candidates--he wasn't going to stop paying attention simply because he made it through one dramatic display of violence. He was keeping his pretty face clean and void of markings, as he promised to his brother. The same could not be said about that brown who had stopped before him--oh his face looked plenty worked from that blow that had landed, why had it sharding stopp--
Ageashakth nudged him. Ageashakth also spoke to him.
"Little body?" Bahari was staring widely at the dragon, unable to really censor his mouth the first thing that came to mind was what spilled out. "Shards boy, it isn't only your body that's little, don't forget about that head." Ah, ah, there was a knowing smirk then as he reached down to press his fingers onto that wedge-shaped cranium. "Luckily I think we both know head size doesn't equate to your level of smarts. What you do with it certainly counts." Oh, shards did that sound adoring and in complete awe. Bahari was snagged, caught into the undertow that was the melting sensation of Impression. He could feel the brown's hunger, and more importantly that pain that blistered through his mind. His dragon, his dragon had been hurt.
There was a touch of calculating coldness there, reserved away for someone hurting his dragon, but the overwhelming sensations of Impression did a good job of drowning it out. Do you plan on standing there and gaping at me, boy? Bahari snorted, giving that head a final caress before stepping away. "Do make sure you keep up with those short little legs." Bahari gave the dragon an amused smile, and a mutual feeling of content settled over the two as they moved away towards the area where they could be fed.
Once in the vicinity Bahari took to getting meat, and ripping off a length of the white cloth around the bottom hem of the damned robe he wore to blot at Ageashakth's ichor-dripping face between feeding the brown the small mouthfuls. "A dragonhealer would be nice, my hatchling is wounded if no one could sharding tell." Bahari's voice cut out then to the surrounding individuals in the area designated for the weyrlings. That would require a great deal of observation, do you really believe these slack-jawed deadglows could come to that on their own? Bahari snorted in response, dabbing again at the wound--which sent another spike of pain through their bond.
Bahari did manage to get out of his own headspace for a moment, and looking up he glanced at the other newly Impressed ones there, the two new garnetriders Kariss and his own brother, Joskull. He managed a smile, and towards the latter it widened a bit. "Hey, managed to keep my pretty face together, can't say the same about him." He looked down, motioning with his head towards Ageashakth, who--if he could've--would've rolled his eyes at the comment.

Motoki wasn’t sure why exactly, but she was suddenly glad that she hadn’t impressed yet. Ok, the tiny brown didn’t seem like a bad choice in partners, the two garnets had already impressed, but the blue didn’t seem at all like a dragon she could see spending the rest of her life with. He just seemed so…childish. She had younger siblings yes, but this one just seemed to take the cake in her mind. She sighed, already feeling bad for whomever impressed the Boy-King blue…heh…what on odd connection between egg name and hatchling personality. A smirk crossed Mo’s lips as the thought crossed her mind.
Motoki didn’t have long to amuse herself with the thought when she was suddenly thrown to the ground, a searing pain coming from her right leg. She stared down dumbly at the bleeding gashes on her leg. Ok…one of two things happened…either the blue had heard her thoughts or something had happened on the Sands to anger the blue who had then decided to take it out on the candidates. Well then…that’s one way to start of a Hatching… She was in a state of surprised shock, which made her a little numb to the pain in her leg. She ripped a piece of her robe off and wrapped it tightly around her leg.
Motoki didn’t want to miss a chance at impressing, so even if a healer did come to look at her, she wasn’t going to leave the Hatching Sands. So even though her leg was throbbing in pain, Mo was determined to stand tall and do her best to impress a hatchling. Sometime after she had been knocked down, the blue and the brown had gotten into an argument of sorts, which caused another egg to hatch. She couldn’t really tell if it was a gold or a green, but whatever it was, it seemed to have comforted the blue. She gasped and clapped her hands over her mouth when she saw the new hatchling give the brown a vicious whack across the muzzle.
This was turning out to be one violent hatching indeed! Motoki watched as the green/gold hatchling pushed the blue towards the candidates, she seemed so sweet, but now the tiny brown’s muzzle was mutilated. In Mo’s mind, that female was Not a queen, and never would be. No queen should ever hit one of their subjects like that just because they were in an argument with another dragon. Mo took some deep breaths, leaning heavily on her good leg, watching the tiny brown intently. She clapped and cheered happily when she saw that he had impressed, at least now he would be safe…well, she hoped he would be safe anyways.

J'skull – and that was really the only way he could figure to shorten his name, better than J'kull or J'ull or S'ull or what have you – was having a very difficult time paying attention to anything going on. Leaving his brother was truly the last thing he wanted to do, his blond head jerking up when a little blue began to rampage around. Ackosyth rolled his eyes and shoved at his side, having very little interest in such childish behavior.
"You aren't that old yourself," the young man remarked, barely keeping his fingers as he offered his garnet another chunk of meat. The dragon eyed him, swishing his tail. Do not insult me so, Ackosyth replied steadily, pausing long enough to glance back at his siblings for a moment. If anything, the constant, petty arguing only served to amuse the garnet. He twitched his tail, attention snapping frontwards as they were approached.
Nalsulath, he greeted, voice low and throaty.
J'skull glanced up as he was approached by tKariss, brows furrowing as she barraged him with ten questions at once. "Excuse me?" he asked, glancing back down at Ackosyth. He hadn't mentioned anything, but suddenly, the man could feel the sting of the dragon's injuries. He'd been so elated and so stunned, he hadn't even noticed the ichor dripping from his hatchling. Ackosyth rolled his shoulders in a very accurate imitation of a shrug. I had more important things to see to.
Namely, finding His.
"I have no idea what you are talking about," he replied, glancing back down at Ackosyth. The garnet had nearly taken off his fingers. Again/. So pay attention, the garnet replied, and his rider would be damned if he didn't sound oh so amused.
He'd missing everything that had gone on, the little fight, the Impression; he was too busy trying to look at his dragon's wounds when a very familiar voice rang out. Oh, he knew exactly who sounded that haughty.
"Bahari!" he exclaimed, spinning around. Before he could help himself, he pulled his younger brother into a hug. This was perfect. Both of them, with dragons. "Good for you."
Ackosyth just snorted, pausing for a moment to eye Ageashakth critically. I don't see cause for alarm. You'll live, he decided, swishing his tail.
