Laila
Name: Laila
Pronunciation: LIE-lah
Age: 16 turns
Season Born In: Spring
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance:
Laila is not likely to be missed in a crowd; she is slightly taller than most women, and she has a very stocky build. She couldn't exactly be called fat, but she's done plenty of hard work in her life and she is strong, with generous curves. Nobody would call her dainty, though. She was raised in a rather conservative Hold, so she is accustomed to wearing skirts and dresses most of the time; trousers are for men and physical, outdoors work, which she helps with only sometimes.
Her face looks large and round, due in part to a heavy jaw and her broad forehead. Her face is mostly flat, though, with a small, slender nose and somewhat thin lips. Sitting beneath thick, almost bushy eyebrows, Laila's eyes are small and deep-set. They are a pale blueish grey color. Her hair is light ash blonde which is straight and coarse. If left free, it usually reaches about halfway down her back, but Laila dislikes the feeling of untied hair so usually braids it, sometimes putting it into a bun as well if she needs to keep it out of the way.
Personality:
Laila tries to be easygoing and a pleasant person to be around. She is friendly and polite when talking to people, but she is not necessarily that outgoing. She enjoys some time by herself, but she is certainly not shy or aloof. She really wants to get along with people and be friends.
Laila dislikes fighting and conflict; she is not quite a pacifist, but she believes that violence should be only a last resort. People should try to talk first and at least try to get along before going to battle. Basically, she won't start a fight, but Faranth help her, she will end it. She may not like violence, but she is strong and perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She tries to be cool and patient, and her temper is generally quite good. She does get upset sometimes--which usually involves seeing someone she cares about upset or in danger. When she does get angry, that's when the warrior in her comes out. She cares for her friends and wants to protect them.
Laila is a hard-working woman and to be honest, she's a bit of a perfectionist. She believes that if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. She can be slow in her work, but that's because she is thorough and meticulous. She is not particularly ambitious; she's content to be a cog in the wheel of the Weyr because she knows all the gears are what make the machine work. Not that she doesn't have any leadership qualities--she can take charge and lead a group if she needs to, and she's certainly willing to step up and organize people when no one else seems interested in doing so, but she is equally capable and content following orders.
Honesty and morality are both extremely important to Laila. She cannot stand liars and has no use for people with no moral fiber. She's been led to believe that the people of Rindell Weyrhold are of this type, so she tends to be against the "rebels" on principle. Aside from that issue, Laila is for the most part open-minded and easily trusting of other people. Her goodwill only lasts until someone proves themselves to be untrustworthy, however; she tends to pull away or cut ties with them entirely rather than remain friends with someone so "immoral". She is slow to regain her trust in someone once they've let her down.
Family: Father: Leckter, Holder
Mother: Reilla, Holder
Brother: Lecklan, Holder
Brother: Retter, Holder
Sister: Ritta, Holder
Brother: Kaeter, Apprentice Healer
Sister: Eira, Holder
Location: Apolla Hold, now Trelis Weyr
Rank: Weyrling
History:
Laila was born to a pair of simple holders in the outskirts of Apolla. She was the fourth child born to them and the second daughter. Growing up in a large and rambunctious househol, Laila always got along well with her brothers and younger siblings, though she and her older sister had a lot of spats. Though her parents are largely conservative and have firm ideas about what young ladies are supposed to do, Laila was expected to at least help plant and harvest their crops, and she occasionally assisted her brothers with the livestock as well.
As they got older, she and her siblings were discouraged from pursuing crafts, since her parents preferred their children to help out at home for as long as possible, and of course to marry respectable holders eventually. This didn't stop her brother Kaeter from becoming an apprentice healer, but it wasn't too big a blow to the family; at least he had chosen an important, respectable craft (unlike those Harpers), and anyway, it wasn't like there would be much for him to inherit. Laila and her sisters, however, were expected to marry local holders and were each introduced to prospective suitors at fifteen.
Laila herself attracted two interested suitors, and they were both likable enough, being strong and fit and reasonably prosperous men. They were competitive too, though, and tended to pick fights with each other whenever they met, which Laila did not appreciate. She wasn't opposed to marriage, but she was taking her time making her choice, and she was still trying to decide between her two suitors when she was approached by a searchrider from Trelis Weyr. The dragon had taken an interest in her and she was asked to go to the Weyr so she could stand as a candidate. Her parents were far from pleased at her going off to the Weyr, but there wasn't much they could do about it. Her suitors were not happy either; although she felt guilty about it, Laila was also a little relieved at not having to deal with the issue of marriage anymore.
After living in the Weyr for a few months, meeting riders and making friends, the junior queen Majorith rose, and Laila stood as a candidate for her clutch. Well into a Hatching that started quite chaotically, a stately obsidian hatched, and eventually, Nayemanth found Laila on the sands and Impressed.

Color Codes: b1b2b1, 272b29, 0e0e0e, 7abb80, 325739
Appearance:
Coming
Personality:
Out of all her siblings, Nayemanth is perhaps the most gentle and loving of them all. The idea of harming another would never cross her mind. She’s caring, sweet, perfect; or, that is how most would say she seems. Truth be told, Nayemanth is like this, but she is much more as well. When it comes down to it, just like with her green sister and bronze brother, Nayemanth would do anything for her family. She is far more intelligent and tactful than she lets on as well. However, she has no problem letting others assume she is just a pretty face. It is often easier that way, and an Obsidian’s natural skill of blending into the background can help. Often they do not notice the beautiful rose among the weeds until it finally blooms and shows itself.
Despite her wanting to do the best for her Weyr, and truly having a gentle heart, Nayemanth also is very aware of the fact that she is a Princess, a Sub-Queen. She doesn’t just want to stop there though, she wants to be the Queen, and she envies Ehtyriath and even her own Mother for that power. Quietly deceptive and even manipulative when she wants to be, it is always in the smallest and most subtle of ways. In general though, this Obsidian holds and conducts herself as one would expect of a Highborn Lady, if only to hold up a pretense that lets her mask something more.
Mind-Voice (If applicable):
Your Nayemanth loves all, especially you Little Flower; and dreams are the best to love. They can hold much, so very much potential Laila.
